I have an OEM copy of PowerDVD 7 Ultra. Awhile back, I found that if I update it, I lose the ability to pause BR playback by pressing the space bar. If I want to pause, I have to move the mouse to the pause button and click it. This is more annoying than it probably sounds, so I've been using the OEM version as much as possible.
Some BR's require player updates for presumably some kind of copy protection - when I insert a disc, PowerDVD insists on updating itself. I get around this by ripping to the hard drive with MakeMKV and making an ISO file with IMGBurn. Then I mount the ISO with Daemon Tools, and PowerDVD plays it just fine.
So today, I did this with a copy of "A Fistful of Dollars," from the "Man With No Name Trilogy" on BR. This time, I get a video stream with a message stating:
"WARNING Your Blu-ray Player requires an update in order to play this disc."
Note that this isn't a PowerDVD message. This is a video splash screen that PowerDVD is actually playing when I mount the ISO of the disc.
What should I do? There isn't any way I can update PowerDVD and keep the space-pause functionality, is there (what kind of a stupid regression is that anyway)?
