Hi All,
I am using Media Browser integrated within Media Center as my frontend. Media Browser will play ripped VOB movie files, but it will not play .VOB trailers. This is a problem with Media Browser that has yet to be fixed. I can download a single .mov file trailer that can be played just fine, but I can only find a very few trailers from the movies I already have on hdd. I have a large library of trailers that are in the .vob format that I have ripped from DVD movies over the years. How can I convert these .vob files into a format that will play within Media Browser, like a .mov file? All my trailers contain more than one .vob file, so I also need to not only convert them into a file format such as a .mov file, but also convert multiple files into just one file?

Hi! Media Browser will play ripped VOB movie files, but it will not play .VOB trailers. This makes no sense. Whether movie or trailer, .VOBs should all meet the same standards that apply to all DVDs, including the ones from which they were taken - and, therefore, should all be either playable or not playable from within your Media Center...

The folder structure for media browser is:

Folder (Movie title)
Video_TS Folder (which contains all movie files)
Folder (named "Trailers") This folder contains one file named "trailer".

My ripped trailers are .vob files which are multiple files for each trailer. When trying to play a trailer, within Media Browser, the sound plays from the first file, but no picture. This is a known issue with Media Browser. So I need to know if there is a way to convert file types into a different type of file and to take multiple files and convert them into just one file?

If you don't want to encode you could try mkvtoolnix, to make mkv visible in WMC it needs to be registered with PerceivedType=video, I think the Haali Splitter does that so no problem.

I apologize for the late reply, but I been unable to get back to the computer for a few days.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

Yes, I did check with Media Browser's Community Tracker and that is where I found that this is an known issue with Media Browser that others have also reported. Hopefully they will have a fix for it in the next release.

:thanks:
