View Full Version : Heavy pixelation when fast forwarding h262 video (megui)

I'm encoding a sporting event i captured (1280x720) with great quality, the only issues i have is that when I try to fast forward to different points in the video it get pixelated for 1 -2 second and gradually goes back to normal quality.

I tried to download similar videos and they don't have that issue.

I'm using megui to encode, what's causing this and how do i fix it?

This is a bug in VLC. Don't use VLC.

It's been reported numerous times, going VERY far back. Who knows if the vlc devs will ever fix it :devil:

kewl i just downloaded the newest version (1.1.0) and it fixes this problem, now they need to work on there dvd playbacks

I still see seeking artifacts, and slow decode performance. Whether these artifacts are subjectively preferable to the typical pause / lag when seking in MPC-HC is up for debate. I personally prefer the latter.

Enabling DXVA mode improved decode performance on my torture clip (nearly saturated HP@L4.1 with CABAC), but still it's not up to par with MPC-HC out of the box. Not even close :(

Too bad, VLC is a really popular player. I want people using stuff that actually works as advertised!!
