I am looking for a powerful and programmable player - something like the Ipod touch where own apps can be installed or own software. The Apple apps are unfortunately not "free" in a way you can just put your own stuff on the Iopd, first it must be in the apple app store and then I can put it into my ipod. Anyway, the SDK has an emulator, and having an MAcos on a PC isn't magic for using it.
Another wish is to have an "open" operating system on it. I can do Linux apps or Windows CE apps, and will learn Android programming if needed - but actually there are no Android players on market (but some cell phones running on Android) and some running CE 6.5
The Samsung yp-p3 seems to be easy breakable because it is enough to put a .bin file in the root and powercycle it. It will boot from it. The Ipod isn't fully linuxed yet, and I don't know about others - do you know more than me?
