why does x264 make some scenes overly Red color?

can anyone explain why stuff encoded with x264 have a nasty red blotchy hue in some scenes?
sometimes lips are overly red. sometimes faces are covered in red.

I see it in a lot of rips.

how do you fix it?

How does it compare to the original? Without reference to the original, ít's hard to say what, or whether indeed, something is going on.

Also, what settings do you use? Kinda useful to know, too.

i don't own the movie, so i wouldn't know how the original looks.
but that red 'paint' on that guy's face can't be right.

i notice in a number of rips that the only color that is bad is the red/magenta. Every other color in the scene looks normal.
only red/magenta are oversaturated.
