Wierd problem with HD 1080p video and FFMPEG and MP4Box (gpac)

Hi,

This problem is hard to explain and harder to identify where the culprit actually is.

When encoding from a 1080p source for some reason I cannot get the video to stream properly. This is AFTER upgrading both ffmpeg and libx264.

MP4Box version:

0.4.5 (build 33)

For some reason encoding 1080p produces a stream that cannot be played by Longtail's JWPlayer. If I quit the encoding process prior to completion (then hint) it will play fine. For some reason or another, when the length exceeds oh say 30-50 minutes (or completes the encode, not sure) the video simply does not play. Lengthy SD or 720p video does not seem to suffer from this issue.

It really feels like the video / hinting track are corrupted and the player does not know when to start / stop reading the hinting track.

I have tried hitting play and stop a few times, but not three times sequentially. Even tried older versions of JWPlayer to see if it was the recent upgrade to 5.2 from 5.1. 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 were also tried.

Will try when this encode finishes (58 mins to go). Stopped it at 80% just to be sure and yes it played as usual. Increased the sleep interval between ffmpeg returning to shell MP4Box picking up to hint it, but I shouldn't have to have any delay to begin with.

Oh, forgot to mention the underlying OS (Fedora 12 up to date).

Yeah the latest encode still has this problem. Anybody know of why?

Edit: Pressing play three consecutive times had no effect.

Edit 2: Seems after 90% (or about 60 mins of encoded video) it does not play. Tested on two different 1080p sources now.

Edit 3: Reducing the output size from 1920x1080 to 1280x720 had no effect.

Edit 4: Both are Mpeg2TS and are being deinterlaced via FFMPEG. Shouldn't be a problem but at this point... Uhh. Time to wait another 4 hours.

This seems to be still happening. Some videos produced by ffmpeg then hinted by MP4Box are simply unplayable in JWPlayer.
