Anybody tested the H.264 encoder in expression 4 ?

Somehow i doubt it's Microsoft's own and more Mainconcept SDK based but you never know ;)

AFAIK it's Microsoft's own. No other non-reference encoder that I've ever seen supports b4x4 partitions.

Oh nice so i guess it's not the same as the default in Windows 7 but a more updated one :) ?

hmm...Windows 7 has a default H.264 "Encoder" ?

AFAIK it's Microsoft's own. No other non-reference encoder that I've ever seen supports b4x4 partitions.

What are your impressions on this encoder ?

Yes, Windows 7 has an H.264 encoder for transcoding purposes in Windows Media Player and other apps.

hmm, never knew. How good is it ? Any guides on using it in and outside WMP ?

IIRC, it's not very good, but is pretty fast. As I said, I think it's for quick transcode in WMP so you can sync to mobile devices and get "good enough" quality - much like I do with x264's --preset superfast.
