new to the forum and new to eac3to..

ive read the wiki, it seems i need a decoder to be able to decode all the various forms of dts i have to wav. the only decoder that does all the forms of dts without losing channels is arcsoft right?

so i need to buy arcsoft total media theatre. i already have totalmedia extreme and theatre, so do i just need the correct command line to utilise the decoder? what do i need to do here...

what command line would i need

eac3to input.dts output.wav -arcsoft

? something like that...

i have no idea all this command line stuff makes everything difficult. i posted in the eac3to thread no one replied.

please some guidance or assistance would be appreciated...

Simple method to install ArcSoft DTS Decoder (1.1.0.7) in eac3to:

(From Steel's instructions):

1. Copy the following files to your eac3to directory.

ASAudioHD.ax
checkactivate.dll
DtsDec.dll
dtsdecoderdll.dll
MagCore.dll
MagPCMac.dll
MagUIEngine.dll
MagUIInter.dll

2. Run regsvr32.exe ASAudioHD.ax from a command line in your eac3to folder.

Zip File with all the above included: removed

eac3to input.dts output.wav

So... Uhh... pretty sure that package is illegal to redistribute.

However, using eac3to's built in libavcodec decoder can decode vanilla DTS just fine, and doesn't lose too much.

Sure, DTS-HD/MA is lossless and supports up to 7.1 channels, but you'd be hard pressed to tell a difference when transcoding down to AC3 or AAC. Okay, maybe I'm generalizing a bit, but I DO think this isn't worth losing sleep over :)
