When I decrypt it using DVD Fab it won't fit on to a regular DVD. It shrinks it to 6.5GB... any suggestions?

I'm really new to the backing up of DVDs. I don't know how to shrink it then back it up. If you have a suggestion please be very Specific. Thanks.

What I meant by "shrink" it is... when i decrypt it to back it up and it is too big to fit on a regular DVD (4.7gb). How do I shrink it from 6.5GB to 4.3GB? Thanks.

I believe you are referring to a "dvd9 to dvd5" conversion. There are numerous guides on the net; just find one that you like.

For encoding dvds, I've been very happy with the free HC Encoder, found here:

Now I've got it to shrink fine. Now when I get to the 6mins 38secs mark it skips chapters.

@Big Oh

Hi! Now when I get to the 6mins 38secs mark it skips chapters.Did you check to see if your 6.5Gb rip also exhibits this behavior? If it does, you might want to try re-ripping it with the "DVD95Copy Freeware Ripper".

"DVD95Copy Freeware Ripper", what is the name of this program?

@Big Oh

That's the name of the program - "DVD95Copy Freeware Ripper".

You'll find it at:

Maybe it wasn't correctly ripped - does the ripped DVD play correctly?

PS: I'm really new to the backing up of DVDs.Maybe you should have started with an older DVD (less protected) to learn the basics.

I just revised to dvdfab 7.0.7.0 and it seems to be working now. Not getting the error messages I was before. ::knock on wood::
