Introduction
DVDFab Region Reset allows you to change region setting of popular Blu-ray players (PowerDVD, WinDVD, TMT) with a single click.
It uses the widely-known so-called region "hacks" for these players. This makes your playback software essentially "region free" or more accurately "multi-region".
Whenever the tool sets a region, it also resets your "changes remaining" counter in PowerDVD (5 changes for Ver.8 and newer; 99999 changes for ver.7.3).
For PowerDVD & TotalMedia Theatre (TMT), you can set the region with just a simple click on the "Reset" button.
For WinDVD, you need restart PC to finish resetting region.
System Requirements
* Windows 7/Vista/XP (32-bit/64-bit)
* PowerDVD 7,8,9,10
* WinDVD 9,10
* ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 2,3

Hello,
Here are three suggestions for DVDFab Region Reset:
1. More BD Region Changes for PowerDVD 7.3
DVDFab Region Reset gives you 65535 BD Region changes in PowerDVD 7.3.
By changing a Registry value, you can get even 99999 changes:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{9CB23675-4229-4630-AFF6-3668BA6AF33E}]
@=dword:0001869f
The BD Region is also saved in the Registry.
By combining the Region and the counter keys you can change the Region and reset the Blu-ray Region counter with one single click:
Region A + 99999 changes:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{631400EE-60DF-4014-8A01-67106E57BDA8}]
@=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{9CB23675-4229-4630-AFF6-3668BA6AF33E}]
@=dword:0001869f
Region B + 99999 changes:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{631400EE-60DF-4014-8A01-67106E57BDA8}]
@=dword:00000002
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{9CB23675-4229-4630-AFF6-3668BA6AF33E}]
@=dword:0001869f
Region C + 99999 changes:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{631400EE-60DF-4014-8A01-67106E57BDA8}]
@=dword:00000004
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{9CB23675-4229-4630-AFF6-3668BA6AF33E}]
@=dword:0001869f
BD Region reset in Windows Vista:
In Vista, the Region information is not stored in the Registry, but in a file.Delete "CLDSHOWX.ini" in the PowerDVD folder. PowerDVD will recreate it with 5 new changes.
2. BD Region Reset for Nero Showtime
On the Internet, I found a way to reset the BD Region counter of Nero Showtime:
Like TMT, Nero Showtime saves the Region information in a file:
C:\Windows\Cursors\arrow_n.cur:NEDTA.DAT
It is suggested you make a copy of arrow_n.cur as long as you have enough changes left and replace the original file by it when you need more changes.With this information, one could also add support for Nero Showtime to DVDFab Region Reset.
3. Bypassing DVD Regions
To make it the perfect Region-reset tool for both BDs and DVDs, would you PLEASE add the DVD-Region-bypassing part of DVDFab Passkey to the DVD Fab Region Reset? DVDFab Passkey is still free, because it is still beta, but so far there has been made no announcement whether there will be a free "Light" version available.To cover ALL Regions, PLEASE do not forget the special DVD Regions 7 and 8 (and add them to DVDFab and to DVDFab Passkey).
*
With the ability to bypass both BD and DVD Regions (even with RPC-2 drives), DVDFab Region Reset would be the ultimative successor of DVD Region Killer and DVD Genie.I hope you will find my suggestions useful and add them to next version.
Many greetings, :)

@fengtao
I seem to have lost track as to where I'd seen it but, somewhere I saw a post that indicated that one of your products (perhaps part of the DVDfab group) now has: added Blu-ray 3D support
What is the nature and degree of this support?

Hi setarip_old,
DVDFab supports "Clone" a 3D Blu-ray disc for now, and you can play the backup disc on standalone 3D player.

Hi, I just came across this today. I don't mind the competition, but the fact that you copied and pasted part of the description from my tool is weird.
Currently your support of PowerDVD and TMT is worse than Blu-ray Region Tray Tool, namely:
1) "PowerDVD 7.3" on Vista/7 is limited to resetting the number of changes, to 5 only. There is no option to actually set the region and your documentation doesn't mention this.
2) TMT's "times remaining" counter is not reset.
3) There is a reason I used terms like "PowerDVD below 7.3.3516" instead of just PowerDVD 7 or PowerDVD 7.3 vs PowerDVD 8/9/10. The changeover from registry key/CLDShowX.ini:Update.CL stream to BRF.dat file actually happened at 7.3.3516, not 8. If I install only 7.3.3516 or later versions of 7.3, your program reads the number of changes remaining on the PowerDVD 8 tab with all options greyed out and the PowerDVD 7.3 Reset button pops up a message saying that resetting failed.
You can of course check my source code/script to see how you could implement these features.
Nice to see that you figured out how to apply the WinDVD hack programmatically though.
Cheers.

DVDFab supports "Clone" a 3D Blu-ray disc for now, and you can play the backup disc on standalone 3D player.Thanks for the response.
(The wording at your website is misleading. Realistically, your program is still just performing a BluRay backup [Now including one additional directory/folder])

Hi ChiDragon,
Thanks for your suggestion, we will improve it asap.
Both of our tools are freeware, some people may prefer your Blu-ray Region Tray Tool to change region anytime, some people prefer our DVDFab Region Reset to change region when needed. I hope we don't need competition :)
Best Regards,

Hi setarip_old,
What do you want DVDFab to do for 3D disc? Thanks.
We do have plan to convert blu-ray 3D title to 2 (left/right) mkv files, or one (top/bottom or left/right) mkv file.

Greetings FengTao
A few OT feature requests for your flagship product DVDFab:
1. Option to select main movie plus additional selected extras.
2. Option to break up into smaller chunks to be burned to BD5/BD9/BD25 media. I think multiAVCHD has a similar feature.
Many thanks and best regards.

It's not what I want DVDFab to do for 3D discs, it's more that I found the proclamation: added Blu-ray 3D support misleading in that, if a NEW additional BluRay capability, it might be misconstrued to mean that DVDFab now provides the ability to CONVERT 2D videos to the new 3D format/display...
