How to convert MKV(X264+AAC) to AVI(XVID+MP3).. Please help friends.

Hi friends, I'm new to this audio and video world. I'm having a DVD player which is compatible only to the xvid and divx formats.. I have downloaded .mkv files, with x264 video codec and AAC audio codec(which has good quality with small size). Since my DVD player was not compatible i wanted to convert into .avi format. Please help me with this friends.
