Because right now I'm completely stumped.

captured game footage > 1920x1200/30fps encoded at pretty much max settings decodes perfectly

dvd test > 716x464/24 encoded at 8 ref/no bpyramid/no mbtree/no weightp shows errors everywhere

I'm so confused...

might be a mod16 issue, 716 isn't evenly divisible by 16

I'd say it's the SD DXVA bug introduced in Catalyst 10.4.

I'd say it's the SD DXVA bug introduced in Catalyst 10.4.

wat? Link? How did they manage to break SD dxva while allowing up to 5.1 in the same driver? lol

And I'm trying 10.5 now but I'm not sure if that means much :P

And I'll try mod16 just in case.

edit: yeah, it looks like new mpc-hc turns off dxva on ati for sub-hd resolutions? ugh, this is a terrible thing to have to workaround but it can do for now I suppose.

edit2: huh. it looks like most sd streams will work if they use less than 8 refs and mod16. but wow this is ridiculous

Yeah really strange how they managed that. Also see this topic (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154264).
