I'm having troubling ripping T2 Ultimate Edition R1. As I've read, vstrip is supposed to be the only util to rip this DVD, and so far Smartripper, DVD decryptor, and cladDVD all fail. Problem is, so does vstrip. In the GUI I get an error alluding to an unauthenticated DVD, though the DVD is authenticated through PowerDVD.

Via the command line "vstrip streamlist.lst -id:\video_ts\vts_01_0.ifo -p2 -$1024 -ot2.vob" I receive the error "* Lost sync [@LBA 114662], was expecting PACKET_START_CODE_PREFIX!". The LBA is usually the very close the this value. I'm trying to get the special edition, but p0, p1, and p2 are all no go. I have an LG GCC-4120B 12x8x32x8 combo drive.

Also, I've noticed that vstrip, smartdripper, and dvddecryptor all fail around 229MB of vts_01_1.vob . I've search the divx and doom9 forums but with no luck.

Any ideas?

This goes for you and anyone else that has a problem with ripping off a dvd....if you get an error, it would be helpful to know what it says. You might have noticed that smartripper and alike have but 1 error message 'unlock and try again' - Hmm damn helpful that is!

Try it in DVD Decrypter...it will give you the exact error, not some lame 'generic' thing.

Let me know what it says and I will try and help you.

BTW: 9 times out of 10, its a CRC read error or something. Just click 'Retry' a few times and if that fails, click ignore.

My main concern was with vstrip, seeing that it is noted to be the best ripper and still didn't work, so I listed the command line and error message for it.

That said, I got it to work. Ashamed as I am, the problem was solved by simply cleaning the disc. I tried ripping other tracks, and ripping around the LBA section, all with no problems, so I figured it was something with the sector, so I took the disc out, cleaned it and was then able to rip it with smartripper 2.41 . Now the disc didn't appear dirty, but I guess something was there.
