AUXDATA folder - mandatory ?

I´ve been backing up some movies in BD-R DL 50Gb so i now realized that my LG blu-ray home cinema does not play BD-R DL that do not have the AUXDATA folder.
Is this folder mandatory ? Even if it´s empty ?

Yes, every folder is mandatory when you write to disk or make an iso, even if it is empty.

Anyone has the experience of burning full Blu-Ray and playing in LG blu-ray players ?
Seem that if there is no AUXDATA the disc is detected as DATA.
I see very mix information. In some players the AUXDATA is needed in other it cannot be present.
Any experience ?

In order for a Blu-Ray standalone player to play a Blu-Ray disc this disc has to contain the whole structure. Is it like with DVD's, you need AUDIO_TS too. I just told you that all structure folders must be present.

I understand about the struture, but in dvd´s i have some original that don´t have the AUDIO_TS folder, so probably some players are more strict than others...

Yes, and to be 100% compliant, you must have all the structure, even if those folders are empty.

For DVD, you don't need AUDIO_TS for DVD Video, there are plenty of commercial discs that don't have this folder. AUDIO_TS is for DVD Audio only.

For BD, better to include all the folders...

The point being that is better to be safe than sorry.

The standard requires the AUDIO_TS folder, even if empty ...
The standard also require the CERTIFICATE folder, even if empty ...

What the OP asks is if the LGs are more flexible than the standard allows :p

I can confirm that putting an empty AUXDATA folder on the BD-R DL it works perfect on LG blu-ray home cinema
My opinion is always to include all folders even when empty.
