Just curious, since unfortunately at least for a few months I'm stuck with a 2 Ghz single core desktop just was wondering about the speed of some blu-ray re-encodes. If a movie has been has been already re-encoded to bd 25 size, and you want a bd9 version, will it be faster to reencode the original sized disc or since I'm thinking that some of it has already been "shrunken" will, it be faster to reencode using the bd25 output. Also would this effect quality of the output thus making it better to just start from the original?

Also would this effect quality of the output thus making it better to just start from the original? It doesn't work that way. It wil take the approximately the same amount of time whether the source is 25GB or 50GB. Also, the smaller you need it to be (like BD-5 or BD-9), the longer it will take to encode (because X264 advanced techniques are needed to keep decent quality at the lower bitrate).

Thank you.
