I've the following situation :
My source is a 480p (without noise), i've upscaled to 720p. I've considered that being upscaled, the video is not a true 720p, and so need less bandwith/bitrate. That's why i've decided to use level 4.0 (with max br at 24Mb), to avoid the use of slice, wich slighty reduce the efficiency (i think i've read something like this).
Now, after reading the post about the flickering, and the remarks made by DS, i was wondering, in my case, wich would be better.
My encodes will be done with an average bitrate wich will be between 4Mb and 8Mb. My videos will be the situation described above. Should i :
1) Stay with 1s GOP, and allow the video to peak to 24Mb if necessary.
2) Reduce the max br to 15Mb, with a 2s GOP.
Will the answer be the same with or without the use of open-gop ?
