Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Hi all

I'm having real problems backing up Forgetting Sarah Marshall DVD.
Has anyone else had such problems:mad:?

I've tried all the usual apps and it's so unusual for all of them to fail.
So far I've tried DVD Shrink, DVD Fab 7, DVD Fab Passkey AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter, RipIt4Me and finally I've used Make MKV to convert to MKV files and bring them into DVD Flick. The last option gives the error C:\Video\FORGETTING_SARAH_MARSHALL\title00.mkv has no usable video track. It will not be added to the project on two files (title00 and title01), which seem to be the main movie.

When using the decrypt program it seems to be the file VTS_02_1 which causes the problem. If I could rip this file to my hard drive successfully I could cobble the full film together.

Come on guys - I've never been beaten by a DVD yet.
Anyone any killer suggestions?

As AnyDVD decrypts in the background, I normally start AnyDVD, then use another utility (usually DVD Shrink) to rip the whole DVD to the hard drive. DVD Shrink analyses the whole DVD without problem, but then gets stuck when processing on 19% (VTS_02_1) and can't progress past it.

However, after AnyDVD runs, I can see the whole project from Explorer, and navigate through it. If I try and copy the whole disk to my hard drive, it gets stuck on VTS_02_1, and cannot copy it.

It doesn't appear that decryption is the problem, but rather errors in just reading the disc. Can ImgBurn in Read mode make an .iso for you? What are the other apps to read "bad" discs, maybe IsoPuzzle, IsoBuster?

Just start AnyDVD and then copy the files to your hard disk. Do you get errors?

Yes - everything copies across fine apart from the file VTS_02_1.
Most of the file seems to copy and when there are about fifteen seconds to go it just stops and hangs.

Hi guys

I've spent the last hour plus, trawling through the original disk, and it seems that it may be damaged (got the idea from laserfan to check the disk morecarefully). The disk contains two versions of the film - the theatrical version and the extended version and the extended version judders to a halt right at the end and I suspect that this may be the VTS_02_1 file.

I apologise for wasting your time and thanks for taking the time to respond.

You may be able to fix it with a disk polisher.
