Track default or yes?

Hello, what's the difference between selecting
Default track flag: default vs. yes ?
Did I understand correctly that chosing yes should override player preferences and play the track anyway, while chosing default should let the payer self choose wchich track to choose?

Assuming you are talking about mkvmergegui:
Settings "default" will make the topmost audio/video/subtitle track the default track.

That's not exactly true but very close. Chosing "default" lets mkvmerge make its own decision. This follows a simple priority list:

1. Command line switches "yes" and "no" override everything.
2. Settings from the source container are kept (if you're muxing from a Matroska file to another).
3. The first track encountered of any kind gets its "default track flag" set.

The third step is what happens most of the time, and that's what nurbs described.

So if you don't explicitly set all tracks' "default track flags" to "no" then at least one track will have it set to "yes".

What this means for players is another matter.
