Hi!
I installed WinRAR properly (Only the 64bit Version can be installed in Windows 7 - 64bit), but I also installed the 32bit Version (See post below)
AutoGK shows the dialog box "WinRAR is not found. You cannot use this option without out" when selecting the external subtitles option.
Can I hardcode the winrar path in the AutoGK.ini somewhere or force detection some other way. Otherwise I cannot encode External Subs under 64 Bit windows.
Cheers

On 64bit systems, any 32bit application (AutoGK) that asks for "C:\Program Files\" gets redirected to "C:\Program Files (x86)\" automatically by the OS ...
You could try dumping the \WinRAR\ directory in \Program Files (x86)\, but then the issue of 32bit applications not being able to call 64bit operations will also come into play ...
The easiest way is to grab a \WinRAR\ directory from a 32bit install and dump it in \Program Files (x86)\, that way a 32bit will be calling another 32bit App ...

Hi 7ek!
I did what you said but still get the same error.
Thanks to your tip I now have two winrar.exe one (32bit) at C:\Program Files (x86)\WinRAR and one (64bit) at C:\Program Files\WinRAR.
The 32bit exe is a bit smaller.
The error-message with AutoGK is still the same. Is there some extended debugging I could to or some logging option I can turn on to see where AutoGK is looking for the winrar.exe

Another little update. Did a little poking around with process monitor and it actually looks for rar.exe not winrar.exe. But I only see the lookup on my 32bit machine and not on the 64bit machine.
Somehow the lookup-algorithm seems to be broken.
Any more ideas?
Kind regards

No Ideas, anybody?
I tried a few compatibilty settings and "Run as admin" which also didn't change a thing.
Is there a way to FORCE autogk to take a certain rar.exe? something in autogk.ini or the registry or command line or something?
It's really annoying the way it is now.

I got AutoGK 2.55 to work w/ external subs on a Win7 Pro 64-bit machine by forcing the install of the 32-bit version of WINRAR into C:\Program Files\ as opposed to the default C:\Program Files (x86)\. You'll get a warning that better performance will result from installing the 64-bit version, but this can of course be ignored.
Good luck!

Hi this is a revelation for me as I have been using AutoGk for yonks, adding external subs like srt but have never even heard of Winrar in connection to AUtoGK - been asleep by my pool too long :) So what is it all about - how is Winrar the compression program used and why? Did a search of the menu's - external subs and only srt etc and idx are listed.

So, finally an update by me:
Forcing the install of the 32-bit version as stonewaly wrote worked.
But when playing back something with VLC now, you get an error-message.
To get around this, unpack the .sub-file that is within the .rar file and playback with vlc and subs works.
Not a nice solution, but at least it works.
Cheers
