Portable media center?

I’ve started moving my movie collection from DVD to hard disk and now I’d like to have, on each HD, some kind of a standalone/portable media center from wherein I can choose and start a movie.

The Sata drives are hot swappable, so, when I introduce one of them into the docking station and start it up, Windows gives me that little window asking me with what proggy I would like to access the media on the HD. This I would like to use to auto-start the media center without first having to open the Windows Explorer.

The media center or database should allow me to use MPC home cinema as an external player, this is a must, even if I don’t succeed to make MPC portable, (program and codecs installed on each HD ).

It would be nice if I could make MPC portable though, this would allow me to play the movies on any PC.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I don't think this will work.
The drives are connected to my Home Cinema rig via an E-Sata docking station.
In fact its like inserting a DVD of 2 Gigs in size. I have two drives for the moment but I'll need about five or six to store all the video material.
So you can imagine, a laptop with a 10 Giga HD will be hard to find I think :-)
The rig and the swappable drives do their work just fine, its just for aesthetics that I would like to install a media center on each drive.

Yup, a laptop with 10 GB HDD today => only available in a museum I guess. :p You probably mixed Giga bytes with Tera bytes in your post, isn't it so?
