HD for Premiere

Hey, I have a bunch of videos that are mpeg-4 720p, now apparently Premiere Pro hates working with mpeg-4 videos. Premiere Pro doesn't work well with MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, m2t, H.261 or H.264, found at: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/202/885446

My question is what codec would be good to encode my videos into that is mostly uncompressed and not one of the ones listed. I've spent a while trying different things with FFmpeg, such as DV video, but DV video doesn't have HD compatibility as far as I know. Thanks.

Premiere will take Avisynth input with a plugin (http://sourceforge.net/projects/videoeditorskit/files/PremiereAVSPlugin/1.95/). Alternately, you should be able to use HuffYUV, Lagarith, etc. in place of DV.

If you are looking for SPEED when encoding and working with the file, go with UTVideo in RGB mode. Quality is lossless, and over twice as fast as Lagarith / HuffYUV, at least on a Core i7.
