Dirac Video Compression | Your thoughts about it?

[Who Am I ?]

I just read this article about Dirac/fractal decompression and am mind blown after having looked at the possibilities within it, just wanted to bring it to notice to the people on the board ( obviously all you gurus out there already know about it :p )

I know it is closed source and highly protected (Fractal compression), but what would be the chances of it ( the principal ) being implemented into say x264? I would rather not directly message Dark Shikari for such a general question but Dirac does seem to be the right path (open source) and does have potential and would it be possible to have a build for testing/shootout?

I know these are just rather noobish questions and transformations are already implemented in x264 but why not ask ?:devil:

Fractal compression has absolutely nothing to do with Dirac. Dirac is wavelet-based.

I was excited about the possibilities of SNOW but it seems to have had slowed in development.

Well, I followed the development of fractal compression and wavelet appeared just like a marketing term for it. Now I'm confused:confused:, just found a document that compares Wavelet and fractal compression:
