This problem is actually hunting me since the early betas of Mainconcept Decoder with DXVA it never worked in reality :(

Does it work for Win Xp 32 bit users ?
Arcsoft DXVA works fine in the contrary
or is DivX's Decoder DXVA splitter dependent ?


DivX Decoder (DXVA active via Controll Panel)

Input
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x528 23.98fps
Output
Video: YV12 1536x528 (80:33) 23.98fps
Rendering in
Video: YV12 1536x528 (80:33) 23.98fps

Measurable CPU Usage up to 6%


Arcsoft Video Decoder (DXVA active also has a nice indicator system for which mode is currently in use)

Input:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x528 23.98fps
Output:
Video: NV12 1280x528 23.98fps
Rendering in:
Video: NV12 1280x528 23.98fps

Unmeasurable CPU usage (in the region of context switches)

ffdshow DXVA Decoder

Video: DXVA 1280x528 23.98fps

I cant explain it but something seems wrong and that is already since Mainconcept started with DXVA1 support and it seems DivX is going to continue this non correct working DXVA1.

Does it even support Full Bitstream Decoding ?

CruNcher,

DXVA should be used if it's possible to negotiate it with the renderer. The video card must support full offloading.

Which application and renderer are you using? Which video card (exact model) and driver version? Does DXVA Checker indicate VLD capability (http://labs.divx.com/DivX-H264-Decoder-DXVA)? Does the video bitstream have any particularly unusual characteristics?

4.Nope unusually measurable and reproduceable higher CPU usage with every Bitstream and DivX Decoder in DXVA (compared to other DXVA solutions Arcsoft, ffdshow, Cyberlink, Nero, MPC-VideoDecoder)

Im not quiet sure but could it have todo with the Colorspace (DivX Decoder seems to prefer allways YV12) used as NV12 is more Nvidia Hardware Native maybe some kind of color conversion takes place here that could explain those Higher CPU usage in DXVA with DivX Decoder ?

Im not sure but last time i checked divx decoder, enabling hardware deinterlacing always lead to prefer nv12 (even video is progressive), otherwise divx choose yuv2 (yv12 for nvidia?). But i have radeon, and decoder may behave differently on different hardware.
