Hi,

To convert a Blu-ray on HDD to x264 using Megui takes on average 8 hours for me.

So my question is: Is there any way to accurately split the video into smaller parts? So I can do 2 hours of encoding at a time.

All my attempts so far appear to loose frames. I've tried mkvmerge, tsmuxer and Clown_BD(based on chapters).

And, no, hibernating the pc is not the solution I'm looking for.

Is there ANY drawback from using this method?
Will this method have a negative effect regarding rc-lookahead?

PS:
I'm new to this , so go easy on me...:)

I don't think so. I mean it will have a tiny negative effect on overall efficiency in terms of GOP placement, but since each input will be "complete" it shouldn't damage efficiency much; you're not suddenly forcing x264 to run out of frames.
