Non-wide screen laptop

Hi, See title: So one of Panasonic's Toughbooks is the only one there is (new one that is), true? Thx (I'm aware how so very reactionary a question this is as everybody's given in to the wide-screen conspiracy).

There are also some Lenovo Thinkpads with 4:3. Check http://www.geizhals.at. You can sort the laptops by screen aspect ratio.

Save for the Toughbooks, they are all discontinued. You can buy them (with outdated technology when it comes to CPU's, hard disks and everything else), but they are no longer produced and, hence, no longer listed on manufacturers' websites. What I want, is replace my 6-yr old 4:3/matte with a state-of-the-art 4:3/matte, which it appears is an impossibility. So I will likely have to put up with wide-screen, with matte alone making the shortlist a short list.

Languagewise, they don't say matte any longer but non-glare, making it an oddity. Just like non-wide screen. What's a non-negative, i.e. positive, word for it? I can think of none. That's how the marketing gurus wash our brains. Yes I do believe Armstrong was on the moon, not everything is a conspiracy, just almost.

Just get a bigger, higher resolution widescreen and then find an app that will only allow windows to occupy part of the screen. That or put your taskbar on the side.
