I currently use a Hauppage HD PVR for my captures and recently have tried to record one of my VHS tapes and am having major issues.

Back when this tape was made, there were multiple scenes, like a birthday party, or visit with grandparents, and this was all spliced together with our camcorder at the time (long gone and I couldn't tell you what it was).

The problem arises when the scene switches. The following is a result of what happens:

Now if I just record scene by scene, it works perfectly fine, but this just gets tedious. Has anyone seen this before and know the proper diagnosis? Thanks!

I think the problem come from weak V-Synch signal and the card get wrong first synch signal. My hint is to use other capture card or use a vcr with TBC. Another way is to clean synch signal is to put external TBC between vcr and Hauppage HD PVR.

Do you have the same problem when watching it on a TV?

I have the HD PVR and have had that problem as well. It happened more frequently when using old VCRs with only composite video output. I have a DVD/VCR combo with component video out and it happens less often. But on certain tapes that happened every time no matter the device. I had to go scene by scene, just like you're doing.
