While verifying a stream today encoded with build 1643, I got the following error:
Error ID : AVC0116
Target File : 00000.m2ts <MPEG-4 AVC PID=0x1011>

Error Message : uuid_iso_iec_11578 shall be set to "17ee8c60-f84d-11d9-8cd6-0800200c9a66" But actually DC45E9BDE6D948B7962CD820D923EEEF. <AU#000001: SPN[4]>
Explanation : uuid_iso_iec_11578: This field shall be set to "17ee8c60-f84d-11d9-8cd6-0800200c9a66".

This was generated using the Panasonic verifier. The stream is 1080p and was encoded using the parameters listed on the Creating professional Blu-Rays with x264 site.That is a known bug in that verifier. The verifier makes the (false) assumption that any unregistered userdata SEI is actually a particular Blu-ray syntax element that requires a particular UUID. However, there is no requirement in the Blu-ray spec that one cannot use an unregistered userdata SEI for some other purpose with some other UUID.

Thanks. It didn't seem like an error that would cause any playability problems anyways.

AVCHD has level 4.0
I'm finding conflicting data from Wiki:
up to 24 Mbit/s (AVCHD conforming to H264 High-Profile, Level 4.1)
up to 17 Mbit/s (AVCHD conforming to H264 Main-Profile, Level 4.0)
Are you quoting the MP/4.0 level because of the data rate limitation of DVD media?

just watched this, i dont get it, the boat video runs absolutly smooth, its motion is the smoothest iv ever seen from video film, the bluray discs i own for films like batman etc all seem jerky compared to this boat video. is there something different with the framerate or timing?

It is 720p60 (1280x720 pixels, 60000/1001~59.940 fps) video, bobbed with TempGaussMC from an interlaced 1080i30 source.

Video film? What is video film? It is either video or it is film.
The key is in the words you used: boat video
Because it is 720p, and because it was shot in the states, the frame rate should be 59.94.
Movies, on the other hand, are shot 24 fps. When converted to video, 23.976 fps. And, when displayed on a monitor that can't do 23.976 fps, it is 2:3 pulldowned to 29.97 fps. The jerkiness is a result of the 23.976 fps and mostly because of the 2:3 pulldown.

It will only have pulldown applied to it if the user specifies it.
The jerkiness is a result of 24 frames/sec not being able to smoothly capture fast motion.
And that 24 doesn't go into 60 screen refreshes of lcds.

There is that, but most of the jerkiness complaints are a result of 2:3 pulldown. The old 2-field/3-field judder, which has been around longer than me and I've been around a while :D
Watching a movie at 23.976 is a lot better than watching it with 2:3 pulldown. As for the OP, if it is indeed the 23.976 frame rate, then going to movies must be a real PITA, since the film is being projected at an effective rate of 24 fps (ignoring the 48 fps shutter, hence the effective frame rate).

I don't understand why people limit bitrate to 17Mbps?
24 Mbps / 8 = 3 MB/s
DVDx1 ~ 1.3 MB/s
Now don't tell me that your brand new BD-player cannot achieve at least 2x at the beginning. Frankly I prefer official AVC levels like this

The profile table at the Wiki confuses me. The Main Profile is for SD, with the High Profile for HD encodes.
Yet there are entries in the levels table that imply that all profiles support levels through 5.1. The Main Profile shouldn't support anything past 3.0, as 3.1 lists HD resolutions.
Is the examples column very misleading?

My read of the table is that main could theoretically support up to 5.1, but in practice that's just theory. In practice I don't see anyone using main profile through 720p24 or maybe 1080p24. These days, almost everything supports high profile though.
