Hi all, Greetings.
Am new to this forum and was waiting to get access.
I heard a lot about the progs Auto GK and Gordian Knot in Doom9 and much impressed and
relaxed. I have downloaded and was trying with the guides to convert my DVDs to a 700MB avi
as well. I had been using a lot of standalone oneclick tools for many years and was getting
data with low quality and undersized or oversized (too poor and need bit more access to the
editing field they provide).
I tried AGK but always getting output AVI file with very low bitrate even all my DVDs are
Master copy and in excellent quality. I had set all necessary field in hidden options too but
no way. Am trying to get a much improved quality, a predefined size and bitrate, totally with
an individual setup.
I tried GK but always get stuck at some field. I've seen
files are in excellent quality with a bitrate of merely 1000-1500, so why couldn't i do n
get the same with GK(am not a master and just following with GK guides and useful
suggestions & advices by many expert friends in doom9).
After creating project with r4r (.d2v and compressed subtitles)i usually go to GK for
settings and conversion of .avi. At first i do set the XviD as per the guide (1st&2nd Pass)
but see in 2nd pass am setting the Target Size & Bitrate manually with the Bitrate calc by
clicking on the right button and entering:
Target Size(Kbytes): 716800
Subtitles: 0
Format: Avi
Video: hrs, mins and Secs
Frames/sec: 23.976 film
Audio format: mp3 CBR/VBR 128
The result for final out put is:
Size: 594028
Bitrate: 634
Then i go to the next steps with GK as well but after opening the d2v proj file i could see
a bitrate of merely 600 to 700 in GK(right side-Size 700mb and bitrate 687) and not able to
edit that field. After selecting Audio and setting all other options including
cropping, resizing, resolution set etc the bitrate gradually reducing(around 646).After
conversion am getting a file with bitrate of 664 or 668,looking very poor quality too and
got wondered. I tried a lot with different settings but fed up and in well disappointed, why amn't
getting a good quality with decent bitrate like others do?? I did a manual increase in
bitrate by putting in Xvid but file size became too oversized.
Probs facing there is:
1.I couldn't change the bitrate in GK and getting a lower bitrate when putting projects.
2.If i manually increase the bitrate in Xvid 2nd pass then file getting Oversized.
Request:
1.How to get an exact user defined bitrate and size(700mb) for the output file?
I have gone through almost all the guides explained and in confusion. All are saying that
they could do the same with GK well so am in a "?" what happened exactly in my case..
Hi friends, if any possibility with GK and if i should make any important changes in
anywhere then plz kindly suggest me a solution to do that or give me better advice in this
regard.
If you need anything else frm my side plz let me know the same.
Am spending all my free time with GK to achieve my goal for a long but still in a comma.
Thanks in advance...
Warm Regards..,
Ajay.
