Main Screen

Damian at MediaSmartServer.net has written a very nice in depth guide on how to use the app.
http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/03/29/mkv-mania-another-eac3to-gui/
His instructions go in more detail then the below guide.

Download, unzip and install from this link... (Version 0.9.1.18) (http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/AnotherEAC3toGUISetup.zip)

New! Added support for movie name checking and image downloads with http://www.themoviedb.org. This feature is not enabled by default. You must turn it on, go to the Tools menu and select "Image Download Options". Also support for non-forced subtitles. Lower CPU useage while archiving. A new status bar that warns the user if there is not enough disk space is available in the work folder or final file location.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/Status2.jpg

Check the option "Download movie info & images from themoviedb.org"

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/ImageOptions.jpg

Latest version also includes disk insertion feature that eliminates the need to select the stream folder in the textbox when archiving directly off the disk. This makes the whole process only 3 clicks and type in the name of the movie.

Insert disk, wait for the Analyzing Window to complete.

Select playlist from the Results box.

Type the name of the Output File text box, I use the name of the movie.

Press the Add Batch button.

Press Run All.

Recent update now includes automatic selection support for untouched TrueHD, DTS-HDMaster as well as lossess conversion to FLAC and support for legacy DTS Core, DTS, DTS-ES & Digital Dolby. Automatic selection of lossless audio tracks, chapters and forced subtitle detection in the default language. If forced subtitles are not found it then looks for subtitles that are at least smaller than 1/20th the size of the main subtitles. Automatic re-multiplexing of audio, chapters and forced subtitles using MKVMerge.

There is an easy to use option for moving forced subtitles into the image area making the output file, masking system and CIH friendly, thanks to options in BDSup2Sub. There is also an option to shut the computer down at the end of the batch processing.

Requirement now include Haali Media Splitter, Eac3to, MKVMerge, BDSup2Sub, madFlac, Trial version of Arcsoft TMT will work and .NET Framework 2.0 for XP systems. The .NET framework is built in to Vista and Windows 7 so it does not need to be loaded. Java is also required for BDSub2Sub. Last but not least you will need AnyDVD-HD or DVDFab Passkey running. All of this software is available free except for AnyDVD and TMT, trials are available for both if you want to try it all out before buying anything.

Required software:
http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/
Haali media splitter
Note: We have seen issues with eac3to and the 12/19/2009 release of Haali. This version of Haali is known to work. (http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/MatroskaSplitter.zip)

* Only required if converting HD Audio to FLAC.

When the application starts for the first time it will ask for the location of “eac3to.exe”, “BDSub2Sub.jar” & “mkvmerge.exe”. Browse to the location of these applications, select the default location for the output. It’s a good idea to have them all installed before installing AnotherEAC3to GUI Plus.

Support for untouched HD Audio TrueHD & DTS-HD bitstreaming with ATI5XXX card or lossless conversion to FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/) or AAC audio and for legacy DTS, DTS-ES & Digital Dolby.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/Options6.jpg

The default language is English and it uses this for detection of lossless audio, subtitles and during the MKVmerge process. Note: I have only tested with English disk. Your welcome to try another language...Just type it in and try it.

Make sure the Default Language is set to your prefered default language.

A checkbox is provided if you want to shut down the computer when MKVMerge is complete.

Check the box if you want to delete the work files at the end of MKVmerge.

The output folder same as input folder now defaults to off. Use this option if you rip several disk to the hard drive with AnyDVD then create batch jobs and place the output in the same folder as the stream. This is not the most efficient workflow but the option is still there. Click on OK to exit the options dialog.

NEW! Dramatically faster re-mux times by using the work folder option. Define a work folder on a different physical drive than the destination folder will decrease re-mux (MKVMerge) time.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/advanceOptions.jpg

Once the main window is up. (1) Browse to the folder that contains the streams, NOT just the root folder drill down to the folder that contains the stream files. On Blu-ray it will be “<Your Blu-ray Drive>\BDMV\STREAM”. When you are in the correct folder the input stream list will fill. All Blu-rays seem to use the same folder structure so once pointed to the correct folder you should never need to change it.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/AnotherEAC3toPlus.png

Press the Analyze button (2), a popup window will appear for a few seconds then the results list will fill with all the tracks available on the disk.
(3) Enter the name of the output file including the drive and folder. You may use the browse button to browse to the location.

(4) Select the track list from the results list. The stream files for that tracklist will fill the selected stream source file list. Some movies will have several tracks you may preview the files in the tracklist by clicking on them in the selected stream source list.

(5) This step is optional, some forced subtitles will allow themselves to be moved inside the image area. Select the aspect ratio of the movie. I have a masking system and it really looks bad if your subtitles appear on the mask area or if you are running a CIH setup this is also a real blessing. Thank the author of BDSup2Sub. Be sure to select this option before adding to the batch list, changing after adding to the batch will have no effect.

(6) Click on the Add Batch button. The name of the movie will now appear in the batch list.

(7) Finally Click on the Run All button. You will see a dos window appear for both the eac3to and MKVMerge. If everything goes well in about an hour you should have an MKV file ready to watch.

For users that choose to remux on there own, new smarter file naming and batch demuxing of mulitple streams with the "Command Line" button option. Edit the command line to your liking press the "Add Batch" button.

Note: no re-muxing with this option, you must use manually use MKV Merge or MKVMerge GUI.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/CommandLineWindow.png

Review your command line options by hovering over the batch list. To run all batches press the "Run All" button.

http://www.acdnow.com/AnotherEAC3toGUI/BatchToolTip.png

Current limitation: No support for 1080i 60 Blu-ray or HD-DVD.

yes...I think there is a bug or feature in the PH A-200 that does not support HD subtitles. :( I probably need to create an option where lower res subs can be made an option. Problem is they may not look too good when played on a PC at high res. If you manually create the the idx file with bdsup2sub do you know what setting you use with for the PH A-200 to get them to play correctly?

I also know the subtitles in Avatar use a very odd font, I'm not sure if it could be related. I played with MPC-HC, see screen capture below.

The PCH A200 does not support hi res subtitles in mkv currently, so you cannot keep subtitles in the original 1080p format. Hopefully this bug will be fixed soon, but until then you have to down res the subtitles to NTSC (1080p). If you look at my wrietup here (http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/03/31/mkv-mania-clown_bd-mkvmerge/) go to the BDSup2Sub section and you will see I mention this issue with the PCH. Mike is aware of the issue as well, so I am sure he already has a fix working in his head.

bigggt or dbone1026,
Try this version, (http://www.acdnow.com/anothereac3togui/AnotherEAC3toGUISetup.zip) in the Tools>Options dialog you will see a drop down to set the caption resolution, change it to 480.

EDIT: Changed link to point to current released version. Original link was for a test version.

@MikeEby

Hi - and congratulations on a very impressive looking project ;>}

A question/suggestion, if I may. You say:Last but not least you will need AnyDVD-HD.I would suggest that, as of a month or so ago, our users world ceased to be limited to AnyDVDHD for ripping BluRay discs. Both MakeMKV and DVDFab Passkey now have that same capability and, therefore, should be considered as perfectly usable alternatives...

A question/suggestion, if I may. You say:I would suggest that, as of a month or so ago, our users world ceased to be limited to AnyDVDHD for ripping BluRay discs. Both MakeMKV and DVDFab Passkey now have that same capability and, therefore, should be considered as perfectly usable alternatives...

That's good to know, I haven't tried any of those other options yet. I'll edit my post to reflect that information.

Great!...Will make that the new release....Also added a new automatic disk insertion detection option. So you may want to download and install from the link at the top of the thread.

Added support for movie name checking and image downloads with http://www.themoviedb.org. This feature is not enabled by default. You must turn it on, go to the Tools menu and select "Image Download Options". Also support for non-forced subtitles. Lower CPU useage while archiving. A new status bar that warns the use if there is not enough disk space is available in the work folder or final file location.

Check the option "Download movie info & images from themoviedb.org"

Hey Mike,

Haven't seen much activity here in a while, so thought I would post a few feature requests (that I am sure you already know about):

- Mux in full and/or forced PGS subtitle track instead of converting to IDX/SUB
- Option to disable audio/video header compression in mkvmerge
- Ability to add a secondary AC3 track (and have AEAC mux in instead of having to manually mux)

1 and 2 will be in the next version. I'm still not sure how I'm going to handle setting subtitle as the default. I've been enjoying the summer and have been lazy, also trying to make it UAC friendly...It's a fairly big challenge...I hope to have something soon.

I agree with 1 and 3. #3 right now is a pain in the butt! It really would be nice to be able to have that AC3 track (as well as being able to select the bitrate done automatically!

Right now I can't get forced subs to work anyway because I get an error when it tries to run bdsup2sub.

You have a great GUI! Keep up the great work but I'm stuck with clown-bd and manual mkvmerge for now!

Mike

I've just rebuilt my PC onto SSD (Yay!!) and I'm having trouble with your GUI (0.9.1.18).

The playlists aren't appearing, There is nothing in the playlist window, and the "add batch" and "command line" buttons are not available.

The input stream files appear, and picking a stream and playing it works.

Eac3to works in a command line window, as does the "HDStreamExtractor " gui. I've installed .NET (although I'm on W7 x64 and I don't think I needed to).

I'm stuck. Any ideas? I've removed and reinstalled a number of times.

Fantastic GUI, thanks for the great work. Hope you keep updating it, although it works nicely. I've had one issue today, used the command line option and this window came up, not sure when:

Cannot access a disposed object.
Object name: 'TextBox'.

It didn't cause any problems though. :)

Last week I had to completely rebuild the system (Windows 7 x64) on my main work machine at home. Another EAC3to GUI Plus had been working wonderfully until I rebuilt the machine and reinstalled it.

As far as I can tell I have reinstalled it in exactly the same way. The paths to eac3to, BDSup2Sub.jar, and MKVMerge are set in the options and are correct, Java and the most recent version of Haali (also tried the version listed as "known to work" at http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17002) are installed, and everything seems identical to what it was prior to the system rebuild. BDSup2Sub works fine by itself. So does HDStreamExtractor. Running from an administrator account.

Unfortunately, however, after Another EAC3to GUI Plus analyzes a BD source no input stream files appear in the input-stream-file box.

An error dialog says an unhandled exception has occurred and an object reference is not set to an instance of an object.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

"View logs" is empty. Last eac3to action is to generate the playlists.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here and how to fix it?

Run as Administrator.

Same problem I had, I think.

Problem is I'm running it on an administrator account so the run-as-administrator option is not available because presumably everything is being run as an administrator.

Thanks anyway for the response!

Actually what this turned out to be was quite different from what is described here or what I expected. It turns out that under options I had chosen “Create AAC Audio if HD Audio is available.” When I chose “Core Only (DD or DTS)” everything worked fine.

Another minor issue I had in "command line" mode: On a BD with 2 DTS-HD MA streams, I selected flac conversion on one, and dts-core on the other but I got dts-core on both as a result. Looks like a small bug but I guess the command line can be edited manually beforehand.

Sounds like a good solution...Command line mode is used just the way your using it...On the rare disks that require unique settings. The gui, saves the time of creating long complex command lines from which you can tweak yourself.

Hello, does this tool allow for 7 or 8 discreet wav file output including surround back channels if you have an 7.1 DTS-HD audio that you want to manually edit? I have a new project in the works and I would like the raw uncompressed wav files from a DTS-HD 6.1 soundtrack.

When I use the command line batch mode, I usually get "Illegal characters in path" when the first job ends. Then "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". After pressing ok, some times it automatically proceeds to the next job, others it won't and just stop. I'm not sure what's going on since I've set up everything ok, no weird characters in source/destination path (there are spaces, but that's it). Logs are ok. The same happens after each job ends. The demuxed files are ok.

If I were to omit BDSup2Sub, is the tool smart enough to skip it and leave the subtitles in their original format? Will the forced-only feature still work, as well as the caption file 20x smaller feature? Thanks.

Mike, I don't get video muxed in with MKVMerge 5.4.0 "Piper".

I get this error and the MKV muxes but without the video (ive edited the error to not include the original filenames)

Warning: 'D:\movies\mkv\moviename.mkv': A track with the ID 1 was requested but not found in the file. The corresponding option will be ignored.
The file 'D:\movies\mkv\outputmovie.mkv' has been opened for w
riting.

now if I modify the mkvmerge command to use ID0 instead of ID1 then it runs without error.

Any idea's what the issue is ?? im using mkvmerge 5.7.0 (The Wirlwind) and eac3to GUI-plus 0.9.1.18

TIA
