Hi,

I just wondered, when using the new automatic quality settings with BD-RB, does it take into account the length of the movie when deciding on the quality setting or is just decided on output size?

Thanks!

Thanks! Yes. It also considers output size.

Jdobbs, could you tell me what settings I should have to provide an optimal quality encode? I have an excellent machine and encoding time is not an issue. I have tried a few different settings with mixed results. I have been doing "movie only" dvd-9's.
(basically should i have it set as highest(very slow) with 1 pass crf, 1 pass abr, or neither checked with color boost? Thanks so much for developing this program. I am a complete noob and have never had a problem using this thanks to your detailed instructions!

could you provide me with what settings I should have to provide the best possible quality output? Please read and follow our forum rules. You may not ask for the "best" anything per forum rule 12, because it is so subjective and we don't want unproductive wars that can result. Thank you and welcome to the forum.

If time doesn't mean anything to you -- select "High Quality" and use two pass (unclick both of the one-pass options). Color boost isn't normally necessary.

You can use "Highest" -- but I don't think you'll be able to see the difference.
