image flipped

i have some friends episodes, which would play normal [encoded in divx 3], but recently when i tried to watch some of them, the image was upside down. using vdub to view, it looked ok. after saving using direct stream copy, the image was still flipped in MP6/7. after re-encoding though, it was ok. :confused:

Any suggestions?

you may try a different player (there are some which can flip the image/movie)
check the vdub help file section, 'processing mode' there's more info about that problem

Do you see it using DivX4 ? 'cause I heard it does it some times.

as i told you above check the vdub help file, section 'processing mode'.. there you'll find more information.. afaik there are some issues when converting from one color mode to another without using full processing mode (but it depends on the codec used..)

Not another one of these posts... this time I'm just going to cut n paste my last response... Uninstall any filters (e.g. G400, Morgan Stream Switcher etc) and that *might* fix the problem.

I think the G400 filter has a option which would flip the avi playback. downlaod & install it and then in Windows media player go to File/Properties/Advanced/doubleclick G400 and tick/untick "Flip vertical" as needed.

I think this the simple solution

Sometime this happens in WMplayer.

Go to options-performance, click "advanced"

Uncheck "Use video mixing renderer"

Solves the problem for me.

Were they running on XP....?

If so,
All you need to do is uninstall the DivX 4.12 codec and
install the old DivX 4.11 codec and press yes when it asks if you want to play old content w/ the new codec this has worked for me on several different computers... But they were all on XP. Not to mention I have had a few friends on XP w/ the problem, they reinstalled and it fixed it. You can still get the 4.11 codec out there places. Good Luck

The "flipped" video is due to the settings in DivX400 filter
Insert your file into Graphedt and look at the properties of the filter.
One of the option is force vertical flip -if checked the uncheck it
If unchecked, then check it
Your movies etc will then play the right way up
