View Full Version : MPC-HC Media Browser?

I wanted to test an alternative to Zoom Player on my HTPC, and found MPC-HC.
It looks very good, until I tried to run it in fullscreen and try to controlling it with a remote control.
Then I realized there is now way to open or browse media files, there seem to be no media browser like the one Zoom Player or XBMC have.

Is it in there, and I haven't just found it, or is MPC-HC lacking this feature?
If so, does anyone know if it will be implemented in the future?

Thanks.

Not exactly clear what you mean, I guess you configured your media center application to use MPC as external player and you wonder if MPC has a OSD menu. It hasn't and there aren't any plans for one, only OSD it has are status messages.

Thanks for your answer.
Actually, I was planning to use MPC as the my media center application.
Too bad to hear there are no plans for more OSD, but I can still use the codes from it in other programs right? (for example ZoomPlayer)

Thank you

Most media center applications allow to use a external video player instead of the internal video player so you can use MPC with your favorite media center application. The most popular ones are Windows Media Center, MediaPortal and MeediOS, to use a external player in Windows Media Center you need a plugin called Media Browser. Here is some guide:

MPC-HC is used as an external player for mediaportal and xbmc.

xbmc is working on intergrating mpc-hc so it will no longer be required to configure it as an external program.
