Xvid and bad frames

HI!
I encoded Hollow Man and i have some green blocks on a scen is there some way to avoid this.
If you need more info say what?

What were the settings you used to encode? Quantization type, lumi masking, etc..

There is a known bug with MPEG quantization, and it's being working on..

Can you attach a screenshot? I'm sure the core developers would like to see the bug. If it turns out being an unknown issue, could you possibly cut a 700 or 800 KB section of the vob where it occurs?

Send the pic over to hstink@astroboymail.com if you can (forum still seems broken).

I think DV Tool 0.24 was the best tool I found to cut parts out of a vob. It still takes trial and error however (pick a position in the vob, load it in dvd2avi, refine selection in dv tool, etc.)

Maybe its better for me to use H:263 for two cd insteed to avoid bad frames?
Or will there be a buggfix for this

Depends how urgently your encoding has to be done :)

Well,i did a 2cdrip of another movie with the same Xvid settings and i get green frames in a scen too.I have done two 1cd rip with H:263 and they dont get this green frames.So i i guess i have to wait for a buggfix to use Quantization type MPEG :mad:

I cant see the green frames when i look in Virtualdub or Nandub only when i playback in Mplayer2:rolleyes:

this would point to a directshow filter problem rather than an encoding error I think. There sometimes are frictions between the divx4 ds filter and xvid streams or so isibar told me

yeap!!
I uninstalled the DivX4.11 and played the movie and the green blocks are gone:)
When will Xvid get there own ds filter?
So i can keep the movie and they will play fine in Xvids ds filter?

Yep, the MPEG quantization issue appears when playing an XviD movie with the DivX4 dshow filter - VDub etc. use the XviD vfw decompressor instead, so the issues go away.

If you change your movie's FourCC codes to xvid and XVID, then mplayer will use XviD's dshow filter and the blocks will be gone. Then you won't get any post-processing though.

And this time i have some pink frames really ugly:(
and i tried Xvids,DivX4 and DivX3 DSfilter with no luck,i also watch the bad frames in V.dub and they are still there.If you want me to mail some pic's just say it or you have any ideas.
In the second pass i only encoded a scen(5min) to see the output quality.

Have you got an AMD Athlon?
Maybe you got the build that was having problems with 3dnow.
Try this new build Nic posted this morning. It fixes the 3dnow problem

Well, I've got some green+pink colored patches appearing as well, but I get them both with MPEG AND H.263 quantization. Only when I use the DivX4 playback filter though. Both look alright when using XviD's own filters.

I encoded in YUV with VDub btw. 1-pass 100%, no luma masking. Nic's latest codec build.

Another thing, with H.263 and the DivX4 DSF my color is all messed up. It looks like the gamma was increased by a lot, switching playback filter fixes this, and MPEG never has this problem with either filter.

I hope you can make sense of this :)
