View Full Version : BD Rebuilder output to USB or DNLA-compatible container?

Hi,

I'm a long-time DVD RB-Pro user, but just got into backing up my Blu-rays recently. I've already been able to back up to BD25 with BD-RB no problem.

Since we all know blanks are somewhat expensive, and I often want to experiment how I'm backing things up, I'd really like to try and back up to a 16GB USB stick I have laying around (to be played back via PS3 or OPPO Blu-ray player), or to some sort of container that will stream over a DNLA client like Nero Home 4.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Take a look at multiAVCHD, it will do what your asking.;)

Thanks! Looks like I can author to USB. However, it is a bit confusing (to me) because it keep referencing 4GB file size limits, due to FAT32 I imagine. Does this mean the output will not play smoothly or at all if I'm using a >4GB USB?

Even after reading the multiAVCHD tutorial, a way to author in such a way to stream over DNLA server/client does not leap out at me. What am I missing?

I'll be happy with either way, output that will stream over DNLA or fit within my 16GB USB.

I dont have a PS3, but I'm sure deank will answer any of your questions. I believe the 4GB file size should not be an issue, and should play seamlessly, just as Blu-Ray's do that have many .m2ts files to make up a movie.
You can use BD-RB to reduce your file size of the original, then import it into multiAVCHD for conversion to USB drive compatibility.

With streaming you'll never get subtitles, HD audio, DTS audio, VC-1 video and chapters.

Using SDHC card or USB requires FAT32 if used with Playstation 3 - so you'll get 4GB chunks in MTS files.

Splitting does not affect playback in anyway.

It is as simple as this:

1) Load your main movie playlist (mpls)
2) Click START
3) Click [SONY Playstation 3]

That's it.

Excellent. I did just that, after crunching it down to ~15GB with BD Rebuilder. Only took a few minutes with multiAVCHD. Just tried it out and it worked perfectly! Great program.
