Why discontinue it? The world is going 64bit - but it is your choice to stop development on it if you wish :)

Because AviSynth x64 is discontinued as well. At least I do not see any progress in this area.

Well I suppose you can only develop for what is out there and supported

Wam7

Obviously I can't speak for everybody but I don't see the point in developing it any further. It is only marginally faster than x86, besides which you can enable 64 bit mode for x264 in x86 MeGUI. There have been some excellent advancements on MeGUI in the past few months so it is best to focus on just x86.

Carpo
7th January 2013, 14:07
I wouldn't call 20fps more marginally faster, Just did an encode - with x86 megui i get about 26fps on 1080p encode, using x64 megui and x64 avisynth i was getting about 44-46fps, but it is up to the devs to support what they want, and if avisynth x64 is not being developed then there is no reason to support it

Then you must have been doing something very differently. x64 does not explain such a huge speed-up.

same files, same drive, same settings

Personally I think you can discontinue it. It looks to me like if there is a secondary "future" version of MeGUI like this in development it should be a VapourSynth compatible MeGUI.

Carpo
7th January 2013, 15:14
indeed, just make the x86 version better than it already is :)

Something has to be different, you just have to look closer.

This implies to rewrite it from scratch coz MeGUI is heavily dependent of Avisynth...

What???

I iz confuzed coz I thinks megui heavily depends on Avisynth.

going to do a fresh install soon, then do some more tests, maybe with all the different files floating about something is causing it, fresh system might be a good bet :)

I came accross this post I use megui 64 a fair bit... am I now going to have to switch to 32 bit? I also use FFDShow 64 and MPC-HC 64 A LOT to play my videos I encode... Am I going to have to put all to 32 bit to get it all to work together? Just asking...

Kurtnoise
8th January 2013, 09:56
You can stick with 64 bits for playback...but switch to 32 bits tools for transcoding files (avisynth + decoders).

Poutnik

.....and if avisynth x64 is not being developed then there is no reason to support it

Is AVS64 drop confirmed by AVS developers ?

Some may use AVS based FFDShow 64b postprocessing....
Personally i did so in 32b only, even if I have x64,
but some users moved farther to AVS64 then me....

I just went by what Zathor said, hence the IF part of the sentence,

Because AviSynth x64 is discontinued as well. At least I do not see any progress in this area.

and seeing as SEt said over in the Avisynth Development thread -

x64 support for 2.6 is unlikely.

It looks like we will have to wait for x64 Avisynth

No, why would you? The encoded files are exactly the same regardless of whether the encoder was 32 or 64 bits.

Zathor

And even the encoder is 64bit as x264 x64 is used with MeGUI x86 on a x64 system.

hello.
does anyone know where can these dlls(64 bit) be found: convolution3dyv12, tomsmocomp, dgavcdec.
thanks

There is no 64-bit dgavcdec. Anyway, there is no license for you to use it and anyone giving it to you is violating my copyright.

these plugins don't exist in 64bits...so, drop Avisynth_x64 for the moment.

Well I'm stuck with MeGUI x64 2237, because the newer x86 versions are simply not working for me
Index with DGindexnv -> not working
AVS create from a manually created *.dgi -> crash
Preview of a manually created *.avs -> crash
Encode of the *.avs without preview -> crash

2237 x64 is running for years without problems, let alone the fact, that HD Stream Extractor cannot handle 3D Blurays.

Post your problems with more details (e.g. logs) please in the other MeGUI thread so that we may see what the problem is.

Nevertheless if you want a more recent x64 build:
EDIT: See below
I have only compiled it - not tested at all. Also you have to find/copy the required updated packages manually.

The issue now is it keeps on wanting to install AVS 2.5.8 portable.

This is expected as I have only updated the core program. the files on the update server have not been changed and I do not plan to do so atm. Update the files yourself e.g. from AviSynth+ x64. Also several filters cannot be found.

MeGUI Libraries show up in the updater again and again like Avisynth Portable.

So I wanted to know what MeGUI Libraries used to.

I use a lot the option in x86 versione of Megui, to select a language, if it cannot be determined.
In the x64 release this option dont exist! Is possible to reintegrate?

I have updated the version on the server and in the first post to 2611. Most of the used packages have not been updated. Also you will get a message during startup that components are missing. This is because not all filters are availble in 64bit versions.

Thanks

PS: I try to update some tools, but i have extract error!

i run megui as admin..

PS2: I manually download all packages from server, and extract all in the relative folder "tools".. now i try some encode...

Just use the x86 build. x64 development has apparently stopped, the x264 version is from 2012 and it doesn't support x265.

If you really want to use the x64 version, here's how to get it working:

1. Download the latest version from the OP

2. Run the updates, but don't let it update MeGUI itself or it will update to the x86 version and screw everything up. Right-click MeGUI and do "ignore updates"

3. In the updater, check "show all packages", then right click on all the disabled packages and hit "Enable".

4. The program will still throw up an error at launch complaining that it can't find certain AviSynth plugins. The ones it is looking for are the x86 versions that will crash MeGUI x64. To get the error message to go away, you can manually install the x86 versions from here:

http://www.megui.org/auto/stable/avisynth-plugin_5.7z

Unzip that to tools\avisynth_plugin\ inside your MeGUI folder. DO NOT OVERWRITE ANYTHING. As previously stated, using any of the non-x64 plugins (including convolution3dyv12, fluxsmooth, decomb, tomsmocomp, dgavcdec) will crash MeGUI.

But seriously, just use the main x86 MeGUI.

Use this version! Is the last x64 edition! Updated with DEV server...you don't need to download anything else. Have avisynth portable, and all other stuff! .. maybe only haali splitter you must install!

https://mega.nz/#!74911TxK!G3z7PMywRXJnqUca_NHH552AIImV9SmemUI_wekvomo

I use this everyday, works like a charm, and i don't have problem with mp3 audio, like the x86 version

PS: there is my profiles of x264 and Oneclick encoder

...
But seriously, just use the main x86 MeGUI.
Thanks for your guide!
Yesterday I have been fooling around with x64 encoding chain (it was tedious to get it working through the command line since megui crashed all the time :) ), and I can confirm with anamorphic PAL interlaced DVD to hevc (x64 in both cases) that there's no need for x64 chain for that.
The script was fairly simple (I couldn't use yadif.dll for x64 so I found a yadifmod2 to try it out) though. This is the x32 version of it:
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\dgindexnv\DGDecodeNV.dll")
DGSource("video.dgi",fieldop=0)

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\avisynth_plugin\ColorMatrix.dll")
ColorMatrix(hints=true, interlaced=true)

Load_Stdcall_Plugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\MeGUI\tools\avisynth_plugin\yadif.dll")
Yadif(order=1)

Trim(19400,20900)

And the result:
x32
encoded 1501 frames in 454.17s (3.30 fps), 1135.52 kb/s, Avg QP:25.97

x64
encoded 1501 frames in 452.64s (3.32 fps), 1135.52 kb/s, Avg QP:25.96

So for this the bottleneck is definitely hevc (x64) encoding. Maybe this can be changed if you use more complex avs script.
