Blu-Ray to AVI/XviD converters

There seem to be any number of "black-box" converters which purport to do the above, but most seem to offer limited control over the process ("medium quality" etc.).

Are there any that people here have used and would recommend? I am especially interested in ones which enable you to specify video target sizes, bitrates and/or some quantitative measure of quality (e.g. 80 %) as well as offering AC3 audio.

You will generally be unable to produce good quality output with one-click solutions. DG Tools / ffms -> Avisynth -> x264/XviD_encraw -> MKVMerge/AviMuxGUI is generally the best approach, with minor variations.

I've tried a couple - MakeMKV to rip and HDConvertToX to encode makes a file with any quality you want. You have full control over quality based on your choice of a specified file size or target bitrate, and you can even select your own bitrate on the audio.

Yep, HDConvertToX, StaxRip and MeGUI allow decent enough control and will index it for you, silently generate the Avisynth needed, invoke XviD_encraw and mux it for you ;)

XviD4PSP v6 beta also has a nice unique GUI and enough XviD settings to also make it a contender ;)
