I wanted to backup my DVD Alice In Wonderland, and it will not start. I use DVDFAB. It takes forever to read it and then when I hit start it just stays there. Is it uncopyable? I like to backup my movies so I don't scratch the originals.
Thanks gjcrnc

Hi!

1) Have you tried each of the three "PathPlayer" settings?

2) If DVDFab still doesn't work for you, you might want to try the recently released "DVD95 Free Ripper".

3) If you intend to play it on a PC, try "MakeMKV".

Hi gjcrnc,

Are you using the latest version 7030?

As setarip_old said, you can try to disable PathPlayer to see the result.

Fengtao

...or you can simply try AnyDVD...

Hi Peer,

gjcrnc wants to use DVDFab, and I was trying to help.

AnyDVD is a complete different product compared to DVDFab. Can AnyDVD compress the DVD and burn to DVDR? So please don't hijack the user's thread, thanks.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

He is looking for help regarding a certain disc.
And yes, AnyDVD can - in conjuction with CloneDVD - handle it, compress it and burn it to DVDR.
Even DVDFab should be able to handle the disc with AnyDVD running underneath.

So, no hijacking here - it's a valid solution to the users problem.
(The same BTW as setarip_old was trying to provide a few posts further up, just that he coincidentally forgot to mention AnyDVD as an alternative in his list, which is not at all like him :) so I was just completing his thoughts...)

Aha, you are right, this is an open forum, everyone can say anything he think is right.

No, I didn't overlook anything -

1) If I had some personal preferences about this topic or any other at the Doom9 Forums, it certainly would be my prerogative to mention/suggest only those that I prefer

2) In this thread I chose to mention (to the best of my knowledge) only those that make freeware versions (not limited to a trial basis) of their standard DVD rippers available to the community...

3) Perhaps you and "fengtao", representatives of two competing commercial software houses, should take any further discussion to PM

I prefer AnyDVD

@setarip_old - Please do not consider that you need to moderate this discussion. Your "instruction" to fengtao and Peer is not welcome. Should you feel you are being dragged into some commercial promotion, do not reply to the thread.

@ron spencer - everyone has their preferences. Let's stick to the topic and not make this (or any other) thread a "testomonial".

Further, in post 1 that the user says he uses DVD Fab. His question has been asked and answered - i.e. that both products can do the job. Over to him now.

This film is a tad confusing to back up. When running 8.0.2.2, with "Full Disc" selected, it shows "Quality: 16% (47.110 GB > 8100 MB)" when DVD9 is selected. It would seem that I need to select only one of the titles? Or..?

--Just an edit to say that I enabled Pathfinder, and it is showing more normal Quality numbers. Maybe that was all it was.
