Convert your video file to MPEG-2 using the program SUPER, than import it into Premiere, it should than open because Premiere pro cs4 supports mpeg-2

No, don't do that. Number one SUPER is a piece of garbage. Number two, never re-encode twice when you can re-encode once. That also won't solve his AUDIO problem, by the way.

@theophyman

Hi! 192 kbps ac31) What does the adobe premiere pro cs4 documentation list as acceptable audio formats and rates?

2) Is a plugin required for .AC3 audio?

thank you Elliot, but as Inspector.Gadget said , it is not a good idea to encode twice , the video will loose a noticebale amount of quality and it is time consuming when there are many videos with large file size.

Hi! 1) What does the adobe premiere pro cs4 documentation list as acceptable audio formats and rates?

2) Is a plugin required for .AC3 audio?

i did try loading a video with audio: MPEG 1 layer 3, 44100 khz, 128kb/s tot, Joint Stereo, and i had the same error message.

adobe premiere states that it support the format (both vedio and audio) that i am importing to premiere pro cs4: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405978.html

They both work for me in CS4

Do you have AC3Filter installed, and Lame MP3 ACM installed ?

Perhaps try uninstalling/re-installing PP CS4

Another option is to use avisynth premiere import plugin and frameserve in using avisynth, but you shouldn't need to for these types of files

@theophyman

At the link you provided, it clearly states:Dolby Digital (.ac3) Import and Export After 3 free trial uses, you must purchase SurCode encoder

@theophyman

At the link you provided, it clearly states:

what about MPEG layer 3, i cant load video files encoded with mpeg layer 3 audio too (the same error message showed)

now i uninstalled all codecs from my pc (audio/vedio codes), and adobe premiere pro cs4 says: "unsupported format or damaged file", OK, i installed divx codec from divx web site, then i tried to load video enecoded with xvid compression and ac3 audio compression, now premiere can load the video file but without the audio (ofcourse because there is no ac3 decoder this time), and when i try to play that video with premiere pro cs4 the time is elapsing but there is no video 'and sometimes the screen is filled with some color other than black) (why?i have the codec installed, and i can play that video with real player for example).
and when i install ac3 codec and do the above steps,i can hear the audio but no video (the same as above).

did i forget some thing or did i do some thing wrong?

Please load the problematic file into GSpot and post a screen capture back here...

i did uninstalled xvid codec, i have only divx codec installed , why did gspot show that "codec installed" for xvid files?
and when i play xvid files with realplayer it plays ok (divx installed and xvid not installed).

when i installed xvid codec (divx codec is installed) and try to load the above two videos (video1.avi and video2.avi) , i got the error message from premiere: "unsupported audio rate in file", why does premiere show a message about adio when i install codec about video?

the next image shows the error when i try to load video1.avi which was partialy load ok when xvid was not installed (only divx was installed).

Try re-doing your videos without "packed bitstreams"...

Try re-doing your videos without "packed bitstreams"...

how can i disable the packet bitstream?what software to use?

theophyman
9th April 2010, 20:21
ok ,i found a program called MPEG4modifier, i removed the packed bitstream, but i still cant play it in premiere pro cs4 , only audio is played and no video.

I can only guess that your "Up!" source material is corrupted...

("Erasing" part of the GSpot image when you're seeking assistance, is not appreciated - and can only lead to thoughts of probable rules violations)

theophyman

setarip_old, you suggested to remove "packed bitstream", do you mean that it makes problems with some softwares such as premiere pro?

I had the same problem with AE cs4, with save the video into lagarith rgb24, and removed the audio streams, works

yes,it works, i removed the audio stream with VirtualDub,now it loads and play very well.

theophyman

but what is the problem, is it a bug from adobe premiere or some thing is wrong in the files, because i had extracted the audio (and saved it as audio_stream.mp3) and removed the audio from the original video (thanks to Motenai Yoda) and i had loaded them with adobe premiere, it works perfectly.

well, cs5 is out (or is about to be released), and they promise even better support for different formats ;) (with GPU acceleration mentioned in the 1st place)

i dont know if there is some body who encounters the same problems like me using adobe promiere cs4?

I think adobe use quicktime to decode, it's not so good...
i.e. w7 64bit has library to use AE or Premier or Audition/Soundboth without quicktime...

Don't waste your time trying to *edit* XviD/DivX MPEG4 streams in Premiere Pro. Every time you jump to some (non-I-) frame it will have to decode the whole GOP before being able to show you the actual frame.
Heck Premiere Pro 2.0 has trouble keeping HDV files in sync and that is somewhat more standard than your run-of-the-mill xvid/divx avi.

Depending on what types of editing you want to do, Avidemux may work.

I'd convert it to (SD) DV and edit that.

what about video quality when converted?what software do you suggest?
thank you

VirtualDub + Cedocida (DV codec). Quality will be lower since you will be converting from one lossy codec to another lossy codec, it also depends on the quality of your source.
