View Full Version : Planet 51 DVD failure

1st attempt to copy to HDD via anydvd and clonedvd resulted
in successful process info to dvd file, but failed to create ISO to B drive at second step. Unable to open or find file. Forwarded to slysoft awaiting reply. Image burn with Anydvd and DVDFab 7 also failed to process and create ISO.
Fourth attempt via anydvd and clonedvd to create ISO to C drive was successful as 7GB iso file and MDS is on C drive; however in an attempt to move it to via drag and drop or send to results in cannot find file. However can play it on VLC as an ISO file, so as you can see it is there but unable to do anything else with it. Must be new kind of restriction like DVD Digital copy rescritions.
Haven't tried yet to create Video TS folder and convert to ISO in another step.
Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated while I try other procedures.

Hi!
Have you tried using Passkey (in combination with IMGBurn) instead of AnyDVD? (Completely EXIT AnyDVD when using Passkey)

Thank you very much; actually I had forgot that I had it already on the computer but had placed it under a "Bluray" subfolder as I misunderstood it's full capibility and thought that it was limited to Bluray.
Yes it performed and placed the iso where I asked it to, with no hesitation.
I must say, as you are aware I have been following your posts for the past couple of years and have indeed noticed the change in your posts the past few months, and they are so much for the better, no longer trolling for a battle it seems, but providing advice and helpful info. I do understand why you ask for certain info at times or redirects to certain sites. Yes am referring to the couple of posts the last couple of weeks.
Look forward to your posts and redirects info.

(Regarding your other comments - perhaps the "change" is in your perception ;>})

Unfortuntatly Slysoft has been dancing a jig around the problem and/or can't resolve the problem. While at one time the premier of the dvd world with their three different programs, you could do pretty much anything you wanted, but now you can't get a straight answer from them or they don't have a clue.:(
Passkey has now moved to the top of the list for their particular application.

Passkey has now moved to the top of the list for their particular application.Unless, of course, backing up your DVDs to .MKV files satisfies your needs - in which case, you should consider using MakeMKV...

Passkey is performing quite well, thanks again.:thanks:
Going to give MKV a shot, just to see how it works and to get aquinted with it. All movies have been done in iso and Prodigi plays them back just great. Simple, but just what the daughter can utilize for her bedroom.
Maybe premature, Still no response from Slysoft addressing the issue. Evan tho lifetime member, am uninstalling from desktop and putting in inactive folder.

As of right now I am only aware of one person reporting an issue with the SD DVD release of Planet 51 in the Slysoft AnyDVD forum and that thread was created on March 26th. No logs have ever been posted. A number of new updates have been released in the meantime.
Statistically, the fact that only one person that I am aware of has reported an issue causes me to take pause. I don't doubt that a problem is being encountered but if it was a protection issue then I'd expect to see more than one single thread with one single person having a problem in the AnyDVD forum.

They were provided a screenshot of the problem as they requested along with the details.

Sounds like, without coming out and saying so, "DrinkLyeAndDie" is speaking on behalf of the folks at SlySoft.
Even if he/she is correct, it's hard to understand why they haven't responded, especially if you've provided what was requested - but took the trouble to post to this thread...

Totally bizarro world here...works fine at my end with anydvd. Sounds like explorer is messed up if you cannot drag and drop.
In any case why rip to image anyway? Take the extra step to use imgburn to create your ISOs from ripped files.
where is your post at slysoft forum? Nonsense with new restrictions.

Absolutely not. You are making a rather poor assumption comparable to someone saying that you work for the developer of MakeMKV due to your regular promotion of the product. I may volunteer some of my time in the Slysoft forums but outside of those forums I do not represent Slysoft in any capacity nor have I ever claimed to. This is something that I have explicitly stated on more than one occasion and am doing yet again. Slysoft represents itself.
Even if he/she is correct, it's hard to understand why they haven't responded, especially if you've provided what was requested - but took the trouble to post to this thread...
Reread what I wrote and then go look in the Slysoft forums. What I wrote is confirmed in the forums. I have no idea about support tickets but when there are problematic new protections the forums always get flooded as much as Slysoft Support does. Interestingly the forums are quiet with regard to Planet 51 so I'd expect Slysoft Support to also be equally quiet concerning this DVD release.
The reason I replied to this thread is because, hey, I can, or am I not allowed to point out that fact that statistically I find the lack of people reporting problems to be interesting? I'm not representing Slysoft nor did I claim to be. That said, I do validly question whether there is actually a problem with AnyDVD with regard to Planet 51. At this time I'm not convinced there is.

there is no planet 51 problem...OP states above he can rip it fine...OP has issues reading the ISO via drag and drop but supposedly VLC can play it. Sounds like a baked machine.

comparable to someone saying that you work for the developer of MakeMKV due to your regular promotion of the product.Hardly comparable, since I regularly recommend competing products and other video-related programs as well, such as Passkey (In this very thread ;>}), DVD95Copy Pro, DVD95 FreeRipper, DVDFab HD, DVD2One, BD Rebuilder, multiAVCHD, AVCHDCoder, DVDSubEdit, Flick, VirtualDub, etc. where appropriate...
I've even recommended one or two Slysoft products on occasion ;>}

Hi! More specifically, you are a moderator at the Slysoft Forum.
I'm a Moderator there which isn't here. I'm nothing more than a normal forum member here and when I post here I speak for myself based upon my personal knowledge and opinions. I've been through this before and stated as much. I don't speak for Slysoft nor have I ever spoken here for Slysoft. Your speculation and insinuation is false. So, I will repeat again, specifically for you, "I do not speak for Slysoft in these forums."
Hardly comparable...
I disagree but I have no intent of wasting anyone's time debating it or derailing this thread further. In fact, I never intended to derail the thread at all and was merely noting that statistically speaking it doesn't appear that this is an AnyDVD issue. My point is valid. My reasoning is sound. The information can be easily verified. At this time I see no reason to come to any other conclusion unless and until someone shows me confirmed reproducible empirical proof from multiple sources.
My apologies to the forum Moderators, Staff, and Administrators although I didn't do anything wrong yet somehow feel bad. That's annoying...

Because no one else has posted a problem in a forum, you assume that there is or canot be any problem. The only people that I have to provide proof to is Slysoft, which has been done. If you read the original postings you will see that other programs have been tried, but only passkey would correctly allow the processing of the requested operation, which was to make an iso and place it on "B".
Can't help that your feelings got hurt because I didn't post in your forums about their program failing to process and a competitor's did. In the past I used AnyDVD exclusively, that is why I bought the program with lifetime updates. But what upset me was the fact that they (3 different techs) rather than answer or deal with the problem started going off on a wild tangent to matters totally unrelated to the problem. I will not go into specific details here in this forum or any other forum including yours, it is up to Slysoft to deal with this problem and the subsequent aactions of it's techs.
I have said what I have to say and will now consider this matter closed here because of all the adversity brought on.
I will know what to expect in the future.

wow!!!
make ISO and place on B
B is reserved by windows you know
this thread has been a good laugh.
I tried again...no problems ripping to ISO. As far as I am concerned there is nothing slysoft needs to do.
Good luck with your "B" drive....try ripping to another one LOL; have fun with "passkey"

I agree with ron on this one, though it's possibble to assign B: to some network share nowadays, I surely wouldn't do it myself. Short discussion (http://ask.metafilter.com/103012/Can-I-use-the-B-drive-on-my-PC) explains about the drawbacks of this approach. Just use any other letter C: to Z: as a target for your ISO file and you should be fine.

wow!!!
B is reserved by windows you know
With Vista and Windows 7 you can assign anything to B.
But since in earlier Windows versions it was really reserved for floppy drives, it's quite possible, that CloneDVD doesn't handle A and B correctly (at least it used to scan only C to Z), I'll pass that on to the Swiss boys.
@cwl7454:
I checked our ticket system and there really is only one ticket about "Planet 51" and that is yours.
I have to admit, the (one) response from our side was not too helpful (the tech didn't read your input correctly, which is not good, I apologize for that), but then again, it was a polite reply to which you responded in a very aggressive manner and already announced (rather threatened) that you'd start badmouthing our products - which is what we're seeing here and what quite obviously is a delight for my good friend setarip_old :)
So for this to come to an end: quite obviously there is no problem with "Planet 51" itself, but something went wrong with the handling of the output - possibly due to a problem with CloneDVD not handling drives A and B correctly (or maybe even some other reason), which will be looked into.

Peer,
Yes I have successfully processed many many iso's to "B" drive which is an external HDD. For whatever reason it would not allow it to be done on this particular disc. As advised it would allow placement to "C" drive and allow playback with VLC, but I wanted it on "B" drive as it is used with a Prodigy for my daughter's room, and that was not being allowed.
As for your "one" response from your side that is incorrect:
My ticket was acknowledged on the 1st; request from John on the 2nd for the PNG which was supplied; and on the 4th from Chris advising to use virtual clone drive. As stated had nothing to do with the problem.
As to bad mouthing; facts are as stated; passkey performed the operation as requested and desired. Your tech had failed to address the problem or advise that you would be addressing the problem but rather went down a different path, totally unrelated to the problem.
It would have to be another problem as I have stated it (Anydvd and Clone) has successfully processed many dvd's to "B" drive in the past.
Did I overeact, looking back: probably; was having a bad hair day with the roofing company and termite company. Apoligize for replying then, instead of waiting.

your responses do not warrant a reply.

@cwl7454 it is used with a ProdigyForgive my ignorance, but what is a "Prodigy"?
I ask because, if it's a computer and has a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, you might consider seeing if it will recognize (for DVD input) a small, solid state "thumb" drive - Easier to transport, less potential for damage, essentially a zero footprint, inexpensive in absolute terms ($15-$20US)...
cwl7454
10th April 2010, 11:16
@setarip_old
Prodigy is a small media player that allows you to plug and play a usb HDD among other things. Very easy to use for a child.
Link: http://www.jetmall.net/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=522
She is able to view all her movies and is simple for me to add iso's when need be. Wasn't concerned about price, wanted an easy to connect, easy to play, and easy to update item; and prodifgi fit the bill as you can connect whatever size HDD you so desire.

yah but you did anyway...
Take the initiative to figure things out yourself...for example, try to change the drive letter from B to, say, G then post your results. Again, this sounds like a borked system you have...have fun anyways. AnyDVD did its job to decrypt, you need to figure the rest out.
