Capture 1920x1080 instead of 1440x1080 from a HDV camera using Blackmagic Intensity ?

So will I be able to capture Full-HD progressive video off the tape ?

Not off the tape, only during live capture. It'd be a waste of time and space to capture a tape over HDMI.

I think Blackmagic can do 1080i, not 1080p. Anyway Sony HC3 shot only interlaced. For progressive you need other card and camcorder.

That is a typical case of false advertising. They should be sued for this. It's also contradictory, see below*.

You can have full resolution only for LIVE (not TAPE) and only if it bypasses the video processor. If you store on a tape then play it back and capture via HDMI, you may have either 1440 or 1920, depending on your camcorder/player.

*In the first case you can't enjoy editing in fullHD, in the second you have the fullhd but it's upscaled from 1440 by the camcorder (it has also been subjected to compression and decompression).

Bottom line: forget HDMI-in cards, none of them can do 1920x1080p (AFAIK). You can't use them for HDCP-enabled signals, you need a really really speedier system, as HDMI is uncompressed. You need also to invest in a real good encoder. And it's real-time, but HDV is also real-time. For AVCHD, it's another story, it's no worth at all.

The CMOS sensor is 1920x1080i, so live Full HD over HDMI may be true. I own a similar camcorder but I can`t test that. The only way to find is to ask Sony and only if they say the true (unlikely). Anyway, I doubt about getting the best from FullHD standard with a consumer camcorder even if his capable to send FullHD signal from sensor.
Capturing from tape over HDMI is a stupid thing.
If you have enough money you will find a progressive 1920x1080 capture card.
