Distributed Video Encoding with LAN-computers

Hello, is there beside "xCode Parallel Encoder" and "Media Encoding Cluster" a solution to encode videos on 3 LAN-connected computers with Windows?

I got a 6TB-NAS for backups and movies and I would like to
store all my DVD-movies on it. With one computer it would take months... any way to speed it up and automatize the DVD to H.264/Xvid-conversion?

Indeed, I found the thread... unfortunately I totally failed at setting the whole thing up on 3 comps.

Is there no outofthebox-solution with a GUI?

Virtualdub has some primitive support for encoding on multiple computers. I believe it's one separate encoding on each computer...

There's also a help file in the Virtualdub package and a dedicated page about Distributed mode inside the "Batch operation" help section. That explains the whole process in detail.

I've been looking for something like this myself. I haven't tried it yet, but I found this: Media Encoding Cluster (http://www.codergrid.de).

It'd be easier to just encode one dvd on each machine. There's no real need to cluster them unless you need each individual dvd to be encoded in the shortest time possible.

Rip every dvd to your NAS and put them in one of three folders corresponding to the computer which will encode it, then just use handbrake (or whatever simple GUI you prefer) to encode all the films in the corresponding folder. If you want to control everything from one machine, just use VNC (or whatever) to log into your other two machines from your main machine. Once you have your encoding profile set up it takes ~10 seconds per dvd to enqueue it in handbrake. You can't really beat that.
