MP4 to AVI Quality Loss

Hi, I encoded a .MP4 video into a .AVI video with FFmpeg, and got a noticeable quality loss. Does anyone know why this might be?

I included the two "MediaInfo" findings, and as you can see, the drop in quality doesn't make much sense. Thanks for any help!

What doesn't make sense about it? You encoded from a modern video format (H.264) to an old and crappy one with worse compression.

Just use x264 --crf 18 --tune $$$$ --preset $$$$. Of course, you really should skip re-encoding altogether. What you did above makes zero sense.
