I hold out hope that manufacturers will go above the basic requirement to process ASS styles, but they probably won't bother since the demand for it is pretty limited (largely to Asian fansubs at present).
The biggest problem is there is not a strict and detailed spec of ASS. Different renderers (e.g. VSfilter, ffdshow, libass) supports different sets of features and gives different appearance of same ass subtitles. Unless someone finishes a detailed ass spec as well as a platform-independent and full-featured renderer, the SAP manufacturers won't go any further on supporting ASS styles.

to DigitAl56K:
this was a great source of info: http://developer.divx.com/docs/divx_plus_hd/Creation_with_x264/

But a little more info about the specs will be great, for example:
I assume AC3 audio is supported, but what about DTS, E AC3, MP3 and HE AAC (i think HE AAC is supported but i want to be sure).
MP2 audio was part of the old standard, but now? (yes i know, mp2 is very rare on DVDs, but i'm making a tool for convert to mkv / divx and i want to know when MUST re encode the audio).

I'm interested on the ordered chapters, is supported or not?
Currently i'm encoding my files putting the supported tracks (like AAC, SRT) first, and the unsupported tracks below (like VobSubs, DTS, ASS).
I hope the standard does not conflict with this.

Thanks

Hi. After one question in some other thread I just figured out that there is no way to display custom thumbnails for mkv files. Custom means not the frame from video stream but the image from attachments, just like it works with mp4 natively. (Or maybe this is possible and I'm doing something wrong?)
Since thumbs support was removed from haali splitter, divx is the only hope.

EDIT: but if this will be added, I think you should support mka too. Yes, win7 supports m4a. The difference is that frame which looks like video tape is not displayed. But if there is no image - nothing is displayed, only icon of the associated application remains.

When you guys finally decide to integrate CUDA support into DivX Converter please @ the same time update it to the 8.5 sdk and enable pro features for consumers like complexity masking (which is totally crazy to keep away from consumers)
Also try to think a little bit more about your current consumer/pro quality featuresets and what should be hidden from consumers and what not your current way to even leave some Visual Quality stuff away from consumers is hardly understandable, also keeping them on a past tech level is not really fair @ all.
You can't compete with something professionally if you leave the avg joe out of the equation (especially as DivX always stand for Consumer excellence, i mean you lost much more track in consumer space compared back then XviD <-> DivX in your H.264 times currently) @ the same time you gonna fail with that, i told you once the iceblock is coming closer ;).

Surely i understand that you guys are in a bad Situation after buying Mainconcept now with all the 3rd Partys involved hehe but that might gonna kill you in the end is a little sarcastic :)

Edit: Argh sorry i see you did that DivX Plus Converter is using the 8.5 sdk now im really sorry just got the new one :)

Could somebody find out where DivX decoder store and read its settings? I don't want to install bloatware crap, just the decoder.

I second on that. I did tried to use decoder without installing everything else but can't seem to find settings anymore...

DXVA doesn't work with Intel GMA 4500MHD. Driver version 15.17.3.64.2104 (8.15.10.2104).

BTW I made a little package which includes just H.264 decoder. PM if you want it.

Yep, that's it. Unfortunately, there's no reg key for selecting the output color space like in the previous version...

I also would like to see support for mkv!

Any comments from divx staff on the recent acquisition by sonic? What will happen to hardware like divx connected box, etc? Codec rebranding?
