View Full Version : Ripped with AnyDVD - PS3 folders?

Hi,

A couple of recent blu ray rips (District 9 for example) have contained PS3 folders /files in addition to BDMV / CERTIFICATE.

Namely:

PS3_UPDATE (folder)
PS3_VPRM (folder)
PS3_DISC.SFB (file)

They only take up 153mb, however I was wondering if they are necessary for correct disc playback? Can anyone let me know exactly what these folders / files are for please?

i would say no.
they are i think ps3 BD player updates.

Because you asked:I was wondering if they are necessary for correct playback after 'shrinking' with BD Rebuilder?It's quite likely that the people who have been working on the BD Rebuilder program since its inception would have the best/most knowledge regarding discs created by BD Rebuilder and how they interact with ALL kinds of playback systems (hardware and/or software)...

They might be background files. When I had Black Dynamite in my PS3 there was an option to install the Black Dynamite background onto my PS3.

I have just finished making backups (one with the files/folders and one without the files/folders) of the recently released BluRay of "An Education" that contains similar "PSA3" files/folders.

I found that their presence or absence has no effect on playback...

AnyDVD HD without format conversion function, you need to rely on the third party software to transfer format.

Yes,it good at removeing encryption (AACS), BD+ copy protection, and region codes from Blu-ray Discs and encryption (AACS) from HD DVDs. But its output:ISO or .TS, .M2TS files.They are dont be supported by many devices.

Spend too much.I suggest u try another.

Those folders are only used by the PS3 as an update. They can be safely removed from your backup.
