Hi,

Ok this isn't really BD-RB's problem, but I'm just looking for guidance :)

Lately I've been keeping 'Disable BD-Live' checked when ripping with AnyDVD HD. However, I've just noticed that the resultant rip has a bunch of AnyDVD files in the 'Certificate' folder, which BD-RB copies over when building the disc structure after encoding (full backup).

All burns so far with BD-Live disabled have worked perfectly in my Sony S350, but I'm becoming worried that all it will take is a firmware upgrade or a player change and I'll be left with a whole bunch of non-working backups.

Does anyone know of any issues with these AnyDVD files in SAP's?

the files in the certificate are normal. Its a part of the Blu-ray structure format. Nothing to worry about

I've been reading a bit where it seems BD-live could be being used for copy protection. I was a bit worried that a firmware update could come out which looked specifically for AnyDVD files - if they were found then the disc is clearly not original. AnyDVD files are obviously not part of the original disc structure.

PS by AnyDVD files, I mean these:

AnyDVD.xrl
AnyDVD.xrt
AnyDVD.xig

If a firmware update is going to look for anydvd's files it will find them in the manifests and in the java files, so don't worry. There is almost nothing you can do. :)

even if it would be used for that, slysoft would just look for another way arround it.

Yeah of course Slysoft would find another way round it. But that wouldnt help with the backups I've already made...

I doubt any manufacturer would do such thing. After all they gain from sales of their players. Once they do something like this - a lot of people may go to another brand.

I also doubt that any manufacturer can afford doing this and it will be against the 'rules' since any authoring company may decide how to name their files.
