dvd shrink, director's cut question

hi,
when working with a movie with director's cut, does DS really encode both tracks as separate (and thus reduce size to mid 50% range), or is this a miscalculation- aren't dir cuts usually a few scenes intermixed differently?
so, do i need to reauthor instead to get the movie back into the usual 70% range for shrinkage?

to ask more clearly my question, are there really two tracks encoded at, say, 55% each, or one track that really is encoded at, say, 80% but it 'reads' two tracks and falsly gives the 55% ratio?

What 2 tracks, you mean the DC and the theatrical/cut/uncut/etc. versions?

Examine the original DVD to see if there are two full sets of .VOBs, or only one...

Ghitulescu; yes i'm refering to the DC and TC.

setarip_old: thanks. the time i looked before there was just one set of VOB files; on the disk i'm doing now there are indeed two separate sets of VOBs. the latter makes sense already, just 'still image' the cut i dont want (right?). if there is only one set of VOBs, do i need to reauthor to actually 'pull out' the cut i want?
