View Full Version : BD-RD with Shark007 Codec Pack?

I am trying to do this using the Shark007 Windows 7 Codec Pack + X64. I installed the codec pack first then to AVISYNTH and after that I run BD-RB.

The problem is I get an x264.exe has stopped working error when going to encode. I read the BD-RD page and saw to enable MPEG2 but dont see that option when pulling up the ffdshow encoder config pag.

Anyone have BD-RB working with Shark007? If so can I get some help getting it to work?

Thanks!

Get rid of any and all codec packs. If you use them -- I consider it a self-inflicted problem and will not respond to reported issues. Sorry -- but I've spent way too much time trying to fix problems caused by things out of my control and just can't keep doing it. More than likely something has been given a higher priority than FFDSHOW -- and whatever it is, it sucks and is getting errors trying to decode.

Ouch, I was just looking for information on ffdshow or if anyone had got it working one Shark007. I am not asking anyone to help me troubleshoot Shark007, just ffdshow. If you don't want to help troubleshoot the only programs required for this program, why bother being here?

Also, if it is such an inconvenience, why not create a detailed post explaining the exact setup of ffdshow, matroska splitter and avisynth. If you are going to require other software components be installed and that they be properly configured, explain it in detail.

Being here? Troubleshoot the only program required? How can you troubleshoot something that has been overridden by your codec pack? Even if I tell you what to set -- it will make no difference.

If you set your system up as was outlined in the first post of the bug thread, it will work -- every time. You don't have to do any config, because BD-RB will do it for you. But if you do something to override it (like installing codec packs) -- it won't work.

Don't get mad at me -- I'm just telling you the facts. It's not my fault that some pack has overridden a working codec with one that doesn't work.

x264.exe has stopped working error when going to encode If you follow the debug output I'll bet you'll find that it is the codec that is failing (in frame-serving to X264) -- not X264.

Haha, just returning what I get. You seemed to snap at me because others have come here for answers. I don't know what other people wanted but I just wanted to know how to setup ffdshow and IF anyone else had this working with Shark007 codecs. Apparently, you haven't got it working with the codec pack so the question doesn't pertain to you.

I said I read the BD Rebuilder post and couldn't figure out where to set it to MPEG2. I am a novice at this, but I will learn somewhere else.

If there is one thing I know, you can usually get anything working together if you try hard enough. I will look for answers elsewhere.

Both MPEG2 and AVC should be set to "libavcodec" and VC-1 should be set to "wmv9". The last one is a common source of issues, as not using "wmv9" causes decode failures on certain interlaced sources.

Ok, based on that information I was able to get it working. Thanks for the help.

Edit: I do have one other question if you don't mind answering for me.

You state in your bug report post that it takes 12-16 hours to run on your machine. Is this the case with all output sizes or would the run time be shorter for say BD-25?

For a BD-25 I use the "Good" setting and "One Pass (ABR)" -- it usually takes about 3 hours on my computer (which is a quad, but pretty old). The time depends on the settings. "High Quality" is usually massive overkill for a BD-25 encode, but on fast processors (like an i7) it can take only about 3 hours for a full backup even at "High Quality". I'd guess an hour with my settings.
