try to upgrade to a newer version.
here's the readme :BeSure v1.1 by DVD2SVCD.
------------------------
this program allows a direct conversion from VOB/AC3 to CD.

Information
-----------
BeSure can create two types of wavs. both can be burned as a CD Audio (CDDA) :
- CDDA Mode : 44.1Khz/16bit/Stereo.
- DTS-CD Mode : A 5.1DTS surround track, preserving all surround infromation from the original AC3.

Downloads
---------
BeSure is a front-end that use the following engines :
1. BeSweet v1.0 (or higher). can be found at : http://DSPguru.doom9.org
2. SurCode CD Pro DTS v1.0.9. can be purchased at : http://www.minnetonkaaudio.com

Pay Attention that 'SurCode CD Pro DTS' is only needed for DTS-CD creation.

clixomano, few tips :
- you should have a digital connection between your player (dvd/cd/pc) and your reciever. (optical or coaxial cable).
- your reciever should be able to decode DTS. (most of the reciever decodes Dolby-Digital, but not all of them decode DTS).
- your reciever should be set to DTS decoding and the input should be set to : DIGITAL.

hope this helps,
Dg.

All I got is a "list index out of bound (-1)" error when pressing the "go" button.
Anyone else have this problem too?

For information, I tested it on 2 machines, one with W2K, and another with WXP.
And the author didn't mentionned his email...

by default stream 80 is choosen , change to the correct audio stream usualy is 81 or use ifo edit to check it

In fact the files I want to decode are demux AC3 files, not VOB files.
Maybe this bug only happens when selecting AC3 files.

I have also the problem with "index out of bound". The error does not occurs, when you select an entry in the listbox before press OK.
Additional, I have problems when I use VOB-Files and using the Sort-Button. Then I get an exception after sort and then pressing OK. :(

Even so this program is my favorite, converting Music-DVDs to DTS-CDs.
Before using BeSure, I converting by hand: (Smartripper, azid, sscr, channelx, Surcode) Timeconsumption 3h and a lot of work. Now with BeSure: Timeconsumption 1h and a few mouse clicks.:):):)

Big thanks to DVD2SVCD and DSPGURU!!!

It seems to be working.
Thank you.

I hope the author is aware of that bug and that it will be removed in a future version.

I created a Dolby-Digital CD using BeSure. If I play it in my DVD-player (connected to DolbyDigital/DTS compliant receiver) I hear just noise.

This is what I did:
- I made a backup of a DVD's Audio Channel, using DVD2SVCD/DVD2AVI.
- - The extracted audio (ac3) plays ok on my 5.1 audio card.
- I split the ac3 into several tracks using BeSplit.
- - Each track (ac3) plays ok on my 5.1 audio card.
- I use BeSure to create DD-WAV (one WAV per AC3-track).
- - The DD-WAV tracks sound like noise on my 5.1 card.
- - This seems where things start to go wrong:devil:! However,
- - maybe my PC-system can't play DD-WAV format?
- I burn the DD-WAV tracks to CD with Nero (as audio CD).
- - The CD-tracks sound like noise on my DVD-player. Both my
- - stand-alone and my DVD-player in my PC.

What am I doing wrong?

this way, the reciever will recognize the data as DD and decode it, otherwise, it will try to play the streaming bits as music and it will sound like noise.

On my stand-alone I have a digital connection to the receiver. (The player itsself is also DD/DTS enabled and has 6 analog outputs - that I do not use since I use the SPDIF connection to the receiver).

As I stated in my post - The same effect occurs when I play the generated WAV file on my PC-harddisk with 5.1 DD/DTS decoder. The same occurs when I play the CD from my PC-DVD-player.

My stand-alone DVD player is a Sony DVP S725D.

Added later: I create DD-CD not DTS-CD. According to docs BeSure should be all I need for this.

Just for your information:

- - - Warning: Sad story follows - - -
I tried to play a CD (filled with DD-WAV files from BeSure) with WinDVD (4.0 DXVA). Same problem that I described earlier - it plays noise only.

Interresting fact: WinDVD gave me this information shown below.
First it says that SPDIF = OFF and the number of speakers = 2 which is definitly not true. In my system (and in WinDVD settings) SPDIF is on.
It also says that CD sampling frequency = 48khz (should be 44.1 ???) and the number of channels is just 2 (should be 5.1 ???).

The thing is that I have noticed earlier that AC3-2.0 tracks are not played correctly by WinDVD. Some DVD that I have with AC3-2.0 plays also only with noise similar to what I hear from the BeSure tracks.
(but this DVD plays ok on my stand-alone DVD player - the BeSure genertaed CD doesn't)

try plaback that wave in winamp/wmp and check its properties.
if sampling frequency is different than 44.1khz - that's the source to your problem.

Hi,

I'm trying to rip a DVD to a DD-CD.
Extracted ac3 files correct.
When I want to (re)encode the AC3 file to a DD-WAV I get noise.
Some facts (I've tried it with AC3Machine and BeSure as frontends):
BeSweet v1.4
BeSure v1.2
Ac3Machine v0.41 (09.28.02)

The generated file is (according to WinAmp v2.80):
PCM, 44100 Hz, 2 Channels, 16 bits per sample.

My BeSweet log file:
BeSweet v1.4 by DSPguru.

Chris_147

I tried it with WinAmp 2.80 and Windows Media Player 8.0.
Also burned it to a cd and played it on my DVD player.
That one is connected digitally (optical) to my receiver.
Playing normal DVD's is no problem with it, so I guess I shouldn't change any settings for a DD-CD...

Any suggestions?

Chris

Maybe you guys just forgot...

I still have the same problems :(, so any help would be really appreciated!

Howdy folks...I really want to try making DD encoded audio CD's. I have tried to use the instructions from this page: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/ac3machine.htm

Ok, I tried this for hours last night, and apparently AC3Machine is supposed to output a DD encoded WAV file...it never did..only a very large ac3 (I even tried renaming the extention manually in the program). I started with a WAV of a new Peter Gabriel song. So I tried playing it in Power Dvd 4, and it wouldn't play. I changed the file extention manually to a .wav and it played, but all it is was a chattering noise. I tried using the BeSweet GUI with the same results...a great sounding ac3 in compressed format that does play thru power DVD, but when I try to make a wav, it is output as a .wav file, but is nothing but chattering. The track is even the right length, and it plays in my DVD player downstairs, but makes no sound there.

I set AC3Machine to output a log file, which it never writes either, so I can't include a log file for troubleshooting.

I have an Athlon 1.3 T Bird Windows XP, with a SB Live audio card and Power DVD 4 (XP)

I read the forum for hours looking for answers, no clues. Any suggestions?

Striider,

AC3Machine (really besweet) outputs a log file, but AC3Machine 0.41 has a minnor bug. It does not put the logfile name between quotes, so, if you are using some spaces in your logfile path, you will find it with a shorter path... I find it in "C:\Archivos" , because my path is C:\Archivos de programa\BeSweet.....

Hope it helps
