@dvd2svcd: Since you mentioned not to do crash recovery on pre2, you may be aware of this already -- but I thought it was worth a post.
I think the bitrate computation is off for pre2 -- but only sometimes. For a 115269 frame movie the length is 4807.68 seconds (115269 frames / 23.976 fps). With a 5 second overlap and 0 second movie offset, the total encode length should be 4807.68 + 5 = 4812.68 seconds.
Here's the "Seconds: " reported by DVD2SVCD on three different video encode passes over the same movie (same # frames). (See log excerpts below):
Seconds: 4802.68
Seconds: 4807.68 (crash rec #1)
Seconds: 4812.68 (crash rec #2)
Only on crash rec #2 does it compute the correct total seconds to encode.
This may explain why my encodes always seem to trim off the last few seconds. Although this example is an encode with 2 audio tracks, I lose a few seconds off the end of single audio track encodes too.
Here are 3 excerpts from the log. Please ignore the bitrate computed for crash rec #1; it got the audio bitrate wrong (thought it was 128 (Audio 1) + 128 (Audio 2) instead of 128 (Audio 1) + 112 (Audio 2)).
