NEED HELP backing up Blu-Rays

Ok I needd to know about Blu_rays I just started collecting them now.. I know a little behind the times. I want to back them up do I need a blu-ray bruner and special discs to get same quality or does it work just like dvd's and I can use dvd-r discs? Please help
